PREPPY VINTAGE COWGIRL ?

OK, This may not have been the best idea, but it seemed like one at the time ;)  I wanted to wear this vintage jumper before I have to cover myself completely with sweaters and heavy coats. I could have worn different shoes, but I kinda felt like letting the little girl out in me today :)
You know the one who wore her tu-tu with her snow boots in the summer ?  Just like her :)
AND, I swear, I thought Halloween is Saturday. Duh ! I have another full day to prepare . Yipee !!!

The Shout Heard Round the Globe !

OUT THE DOOR TO RUN ERRANDS AND I MUST SAY, BURRRRRR........
The local mid-west weather report is 50's and dreary after a week of 70's. Shocking to say the least!  This outfit is an example that women over 40 CAN wear short skirts, darn it.  If I read another article telling us over 40's to stop it, I will scream so loud it will be heard around the globe. I bet Kelly Ripa (40) or SJP (45) or Demi Moore (46) would agree. Though I bet they have a slew of surgeons with botox-filled lipo-suction thingys on their payroll ;) 

AND  LEG WARMERS !  I also found another use for them today. A mini-scarf :) The perfect fit .
The beret was a necessity for my bad-hair day . It's time to do my roots .........
I may do an all-over as the color is really faded .  Kind of a washed-out orange hue ;) Halloween anyone ?

Indie or Eclectic ? And What's The Diff ?

Though I am not much for labeling my style, as it changes greatly from day to day ~ mood to mood, I was recently asked to describe my style in three words. It was easy til it came to Eclectic or Indie. Which am I ? I know the difference when I see it, but was hard pressed to choose one over the other.
So, as a good little fashion geek would do, I looked it up ;)
It seems there isn't huge differences, but more subtle ones.  For instance, I love my graphic Tees (indie) but also love shiny baubles as well (eclectic). Still confused? Me too :) So here's what I came up with.

INDIE :

It's more of an alternative style, which has become mainstream, thus making indie a tough trend to nail down.  Live underground concerts, authentic concert Tees, acoustic music ~ These are all common life-styles of an Indie fashion lover............

• THINK  "JUNO" OR WILLOW FROM BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER :)
• RINGER T'S, PLAID SHIRTS, CARDIGANS, SKINNY JEANS
• SHOES: VANS, FLATS, KEDS, though many of these trends are now mainstream, making them no longer true indie.
• "COSBY" SWEATERS, OVER-SIZED CARDI'S AND TEES.
•  THE OCCASIONAL CHUNKY SANDAL OR FLIP-FLOPS.
• VINYL OVER iPOD'S
• A TRUE "INDIE" WOULD NEVER SHOP AT "CHAIN STORES", except for basics.

ECLECTIC :

There's not much difference, though the definition of eclectic is "a mixed style" in the fine arts. An Indie style can easily be tweaked into Eclectic with more colorful , mix and match pieces, with vintage thrown into the mix as well.

ME TOO, HONESTLY .................

ECLECTIC SEEMS TO BE MERELY A BLEND OF BOTH WORLDS. Liking to mix different styles all in one.  I WOULD BE CONSIDERED A "POSER" IN TRUE INDIE CIRCLES ;)

I LOVE VINTAGE ACCESSORIES PAIRED WITH A DIY EMBELLISHED TEE PAIRED WITH COLORFUL FLORALS ...........................

This is my best attempt at Indie Style, though it turned Eclectic as soon as I added the shiny brooch and trendy sunnies. Now the boots and skirt are screaming Boho !

Maybe I should stick to taking pretty pictures ;)

( Plus, a true Indie girl would be way too cool to twirl :)

Shades of Textured Grays

Ya know how outfits seem to have a mind of their own ? This one started off completely different. I've been admiring the super-long scarves dragging the ground on the "Peeper" Diva's as of late. They usually pair them up with a maxi, but I hoped to mix it up with a shorter dress instead. After a few changes, this is how it turned out :) I like wearing lighter colored shoes with dark legs and this hat was all matchy. I admit, it's not one of my favorites, but hey, tomorrow's another day ;) I haven't seen many short sleeved dresses over long sleeves ( like th 90's ). Maybe I'll start a trend !

When in doubt, I load up on the accessories ;)

Just Being Me .........

OK, SO I MAY HAVE BACK-SLIDDEN ALREADY ;)  BUT THIS OUTFIT IS ME. SO ME, IN FACT I NEEDED TO TWIRL AND GRIN SIDEWAYS. MAYBE POP OFF A FEW ROUNDS WITH MY WINCHESTER. KNAW A PLUG OF TOBACCO AND HIT A BARN DANCE LATER THIS EVENING.

BUT SERIOUSLY FOLKS, THIS LOOK ACTUALLY CAME FROM ALL THE ADS OF LONG FLORAL HIGH-WAISTED FROCKS WITH CHUNKY SWEATERS.

My Brother fell off the roof where he works a couple days ago and broke both legs.

I am so grateful he is alive. In a lot of pain, but doing OK.

Creating A Better Blog : Part One

Hi everybody !!!

I hope Monday is being good to ya :)

OK, so you know I am on a mission to improve my "baby blog". I have been style blogging for almost a year. It's time. To put my big girl panties on and clean my house........

This idea has been long coming and I honestly was gonna stop all together, but I love what I'm doing here.........

I've made great new friends ~ Learned a lot ~ and found my true style , inwards as well as outwards. So without further ado, I am gonna share what I've learned about making my blog better :)

These are OPINIONS, IDEAS, and TIPS that I have gathered lately. I am not judging anyone else's blog, nor am I trying to go "Pro" ;)  ~  I am hoping these subtle changes will make this place a nicer, happier, user-friendly experience for everyone...........

Let's face it, first impressions are important. It's much harder to erase a negative experience than re-create a pleasant one !  My blog has said to many readers, " Welcome to Reva's Circus " or " Here I AM, LOOK AT ME, AND LISTEN ".

FIRST, I HAD TO CONSIDER , "WHAT IS THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF MY BLOG?"

To share my fashion passion with other's and show them that over 40 isn't a negative thing.  ~  To improve my photography skills.  ~  To gather a network of like-minded fashionista's who enjoy a great thrift find :)

THEN, I HAD TO LISTEN. TO MY READERS. LET'S FACE IT, I WANT YOU TO KEEP COMING BACK !  SO I STARTED TAKING SUGGESTIONS TO HEART, NOT GETTING DEFENSIVE WHEN OTHER'S WERE ONLY TRYING TO HELP ME OUT. ( THANKS, GUYS )

HERE'S WHAT I'VE CAME UP WITH SO FAR :

1. MOST READERS DO NOT LIKE MUSIC TRACKS ON A STYLE BLOG. FACT........

2. IMAGE QUALITY IS VERY IMPORTANT. BUT OVER-LOAD IS OVER-KILL ;)

3. A CLEAN BLOG ALLOWS PEOPLE TO READ WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY WITHOUT DISTRACTIONS ;)  SO I AM SIMPLING THINGS UP.

( Being a widget nut myself, this is the hardest one of all ;)

4. COMMENTS ARE TO BE VALUED. IF SOMEONE IS TAKING THE TIME TO LEAVE A COMMENT, THEN IT IS ONLY A COURTESY TO SAY THANKS :)

5. HEADER SIZE DOESN'T HAVE TO BE HUGE AND FLASHY, IT TAKES AWAY FROM YOUR POSTS. 

6. ORIGINAL CONTENT! ORIGINAL CONTENT! ORIGINAL CONTENT!  ~ AND PLEASE DON'T USE OTHER BLOGGER'S STUFF WITHOUT PERMISSION.

7. SPELL-CHECK YOUR COMMENTARY, AND TRY TO STAY ON TOPIC. ( This is a toughie ;)

I do tend to ramble on .........
