KEEP IT SIMPLE SILLY OR K.I.S.S.

It never fails, but my simplest looks are my favs.
Some women seem to have a knack for this,
sporting a knock-out outfit with a few simple
pieces or colors. I developed alot of my fashion
no-nos from the eighties, where bigger, higher, and over-done was the look. (think power-suits,
Madonna, spandex, and hairspray over a bad scrunchie filled perm! These days I admire the Lauren Hutton, Hepburn Personal timeless styles. Don't get me wrong, I will always be in line for a new fad, but classic never fails. *Classic ribbed turtle-neck in Cream, a warm scarf in burgundy, a full circle skirt(plaid), with classic riding boots and trendy tights!

I REALLY WANT TO WIN!/ RED VINTAGE COAT

I entered this coat seven ways to sunday to Weardrobe's  best winter
look contest. Being non-computer-savy, I sent an I NEED HELP e-mail,
which
was replied as "just send a link from weardrobe". ouch! what the heck is a link, and how do i send one? is it an attachment? is it the pic only from my files? anyhoo, I sent them the picture about 7 different ways. Sometimes the photo was huge! I sure do hope they got one of them! i even typed a letter with the picture number on it! Boy could I use $500!

My husband even put up our original aluminum tree with the light orb!
This tree is from the 60's in original box! It was a gift from rod's sister
and husband. They even found an original light. When plugged in it
rotates and makes the tree glow different colors. cool!

MY BEST WINTER LOOK

contest@weardrobe.comcontests@weardrobe.com

This is my favorite winter look. This wool coat was thrifted years ago and the details are lovely. I wear alot of  black turtle-necks, berets, and tights with black boots. I love to add a brooch to my berets and
 I also need some winter
white in the mix. This year my thrifted carpet bag purse will enjoy
hanging out with my coat!
This outfit is also on Weardrobe.

RED PATTERED SKIRT

Playing with patterns and textures. This lacey blouse is thrifted
and from the 70's. The "old man"
vest was thrifted. The skirt was a
clx. item from Penny's, which I
bought 2 in case I gained weight!

I also love these thrifted key-hole, T-straps for $4 bucks! I always say this, but this is one of my fav.skirts!

WHEN IN DOUBT KEEP IT SIMPLE

Sometimes I can't find a thing to wear, although I
have way too many clothes. This weekend I am
cleaning out closets, and trying to decide what to
submit for the gift card on Weardrobe! I really want
to win! Anyhoo, this outfit is dedicated to K.I.S.S.,
or KEEP IT SIMPLE SILLY! * Long sweater: TARGET
*Boots: TARGET, Necklace, thrifted, Beret. K-mart.

THRIFTED CLOTH PURSE

This purse was thrifted on a spree with my Mom for 50 cents. Mom calls it "junking". I call it Ka-ching! This scarf I call MY LITTLE VIXEN as I pd. 10$ for it at half price. It may be evil? When I wear simple pieces, I try to add a pop of texture or color. This purse is corduoroy , velvet and some kind of upholstry material quilted all together. I'm usually the one who adds an accessory before going out, instead of removing one. Taking photos of myself has helped me to  realize how I really look sometimes. It seems the looks I think are great, are usually not as flattering as I thought. Simple seems to suit me better. *I'm also learning that less is more as I age, including make-up.

NO THANKS OUTFIT

Should i stay or should i go? Black Friday is a no thanks day for me! As it is the coldest day of this fall so far, this outfit is perfect for me! Gap p.j. bottoms with polka dots in pink of course, a black turtle, and a cozy scarf. Leftovers anyone?

BEFORE AND AFTER

BITTY-BITTY BEFORE TURKEY AND AFTER TURKEY. SHE WAS SO OUT OF IT SHE FELL OUT OF THE CHAIR! FUNNY STUFF! or FUNNY STUFFED?!

A FEW SHOTS FROM THANKSGIVING

PUNKIN  pie for two! yummmmm!

Me after dinner.

My Yams. When they were in the oven,
the marshmallows swelled into the size
of tennis balls, then POOF! dropped down
into the dish! It was funny, but the yams
were yummy!

WHAT I REALLY WORE ON THANKSGIVING!

This week was a theme week called MODERN HOSTESS inspired by an article in my fav. fashion mag, In Style, and boy was it alot of work. It was also fun, too! I actually decided to wear a long banana yellow sweater over a cotton black dress with spaghetti straps, burgundy cotton tights and my black satin flats. I added a bold oxidized gold pendant choker with a cotton cord that matched my tights. I forgot my lipstick, but it was gone from all the eating! Also as it was my hubs and me and bitty-bitty, i'm sure they didn't mind! The last pic is of course me cropping pics. We have a large dining table in an off-shoot living room (our house is shaped funny), and we have the computer on one end. That way I am still football game adjacent!

HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY!

The net was down for a while, but instead of panicking, i doodled a doodle! I don't venture out on this traditional day of shopping myself, but to those brave souls who do, this doodle is for you!

MODERN VISITOR!

Nothing is more classic than the crisp white shirt, with black pants. Here I changed it up a bit, but the possibilities are endless! I personally love palazzo pants, as they tend to balance out my body frame (girl on top- boy from waist down!). I'm also loving the lace right now. The scarf is my POP of color and my freeze-cat cure!

MODERN HOSTESS/ VINTAGE APRON

This Modern Hostess needs a little Vintage to be Mod! I thrifted this apron a few years back along with 2 other for only $3 each! I don't really cook in them, they are too pretty! My shiny red flats matched perfectly! This year I'm actually cooking, as our parents both live out of town. HAPPY TURKEY DAY! *TIP:  WHEN GUESTS ENTER , GIVE THEM A SMALL PIECE OF PAPER AND ASK THEM TO WRITE DOWN WHAT THEY ARE THANKFUL FOR. FOLD IT UP AND PUT IN A BASKET,  AND DURING DESSERT OR WHENEVER U LIKE , PASS AROUND THE BASKET AND HAVE EACH PERSON DRAW A NOTE AND READ ALOUD. CAN YOU GUESS WHO IT'S FROM?

LONG SWEATERS WITH SHORT RUFFLES

Another look from MODERN HOSTESS article suggests a long sweater with a short ruffled skirt or nightie and leggings. One look has a long gold-sheen sweater with gold embellished satin flats. This was my fav. but didn't photo well. The other is a winter white turtle neck.*TIP: keep the sweaters thin as heat can be a factor!

SHE'S EXCITED, REALLY.

This is my kitty, BITTY-BITTY. She is almost 18 human years old (which is supposedly 126 cat years!) She doesn't know it, but in a few short hours she will be eating her favorite! She's pretending to not care, but believe me- she knows!  She doesn't look a day over 80 does she?!

ROCK THE SATIN P.J.'S!

Another look for the mod.hostess is satin-on-satin! Ruffled satin top(which is really another nightie!), and black satin pants (thrifted) by Limited (Again), and satin flat slippers. I paired them with a wrap sweater (cotton), for balance. Long green beaded earrings and a bun on top! A pop of red lipstick makes the "tiredys" not as obvious!

EMBELLISHED TANK

This MODERN HOSTESS look works a sequined tank. I wear it with gray cottons, and my basic footless tights. I added a Crochet/beaded short necklace and green beaded earrings on gold wires. I added the Gold shoes to off-set the greys and cream of the tank. This is so comfortable. I avoid zippered waist during Thanksgiving and again, this offers cooler cooking! I made the Bangle myself, and I'm so proud of it!

MOD SHORT NIGHTIE AND CARDIGAN

This look is inspired by my desire for layers. I start with the basics, leggings and tank. Then a Satin short nightie with lace on bottom, so I don't need a belt. An embellished Cardi, and matching slippers, and dangling grey pearls, so I don't need a necklace. Finally a high bun seems to balance out the look(and i prefer having height as my hair is very fine and gets flat easily).Found this cardigan at Target for $4.24 post-season).

ROCKING THE SATIN PANT

This look is my satin pants, one of my favorite looks.I paired them with a skirt as a top. *TIP: you can pin faux straps onto skirt to keep it from falling down by using ribbons . Cut 2 to fit from front of shoulder to back, stitch in place or pin under a cardi. *HINT: up-do is best for cooking! Pants, thrifted.

LONG BLACK SKIRTS/MOD HOSTESS

There's nothing more comfy than a long, full skirt with leggings underneath. I wear footless ones for comfort as I can put on my cute slippers, socks, or flats. *TIP: It's easier to cross your legs without feet in your leggings! I add a scarf for pop or dangling earrings. Remember to take off scarf before cooking, an I always put my hair up to keep unwanted guests in the stuffing!
