Purple and Pinks

As I'm posting this, the sun is calling us out, though yesterday I was ducking and dodging rain to pop off these photos :) It was really chilly too, but a sequined scarf and feathers made the day much brighter.

I am going through my maxi's, trying to find new and different ways to wear them and it been challenging. I'm trying to think outside the box, so we'll see. I swear, i think i could just do maxi's all summer!
Nah, too boring ;)

Feathers, Turbans and Knots Oh My !

This year definitely seems to be the year of the maxi dress, skirt and ultra long, wide leg pants. Since I have always had a closet full of long skirts, i am really enjoying trying new, fun ways to wear them.
One of my favorites and easiest ways to freshen up an old gypsy skirt is to knot it. Even double knots are fun. I am in the process of chopping some bohemian cotton ones to be short in the front and long in the back, thus making fun shoes or boots seen and not just heard :)
I still need to learn to measure twice, cut once ;)

And don't get me started on the turbans and scarves and feathers...
Love, love, love em' !
and a big thanks to the beautiful Sacramento :)
( I like it better, too ! )

HAPPY MONDAY :)
I THOUGH A BLAST OF COLOR WOULD BE A GREAT START TO THE WEEK....
SO KA-BAM ! HERE YA GO !!! THOUGH I DO ADVISE USING DOUBLE-SIDED TAPE TO PULL OFF THE GLADIATOR LOOK. YEP, THEY WENT SOUTH IMMEDIATELY -
PLUS, I FELT KINDA SILLY...

AND, WE HAVE MORE TICKETS TO SEE LUCINDA WILLIAMS IN JULY. YIPEE-KAI-YA-YAY ! THOUGH I REFUSE TO GROUP  HER IN THE COUNTRY GENRE, JUST GREAT WRITING AND BLUES ;)

AND A SMALL PONDERING:
I THOUGHT THAT BY THE TIME I WAS 47, I WOULD BE SITTING ON A CUSHION, CHANTING KICK-@SS QUOTES ON SELF-LOVE. THE YOUNG GIRLS OF THE VILLAGE GATHERED AROUND ME WITH PERKED EARS AND LAPPING UP ALL THE ENLIGHTENED, WISE DRIPPINGS COMING FORTH FROM MY BATTERED SOUL....
BUT, SINCE I'VE GAINED AN EXTRA 20 LBS (AN ENTIRE TODDLER), I'M A BIT MIFFED. MY BOOBS ARE HUGE ! I AM STARTING TO DO THE HAND-IN-FRONT-OF-STOMACH POSES. WHY OH WHY CAN I NOT BE SATISFIED WITH HOW I LOOK? AND NO, I'M NOT FISHING FOR A COMPLIMENT AND THIS IS THE ONE AND ONLY TIME I WILL MENTION IT AS MOST PEOPLE ARE TURNED OFF BY SUCH NONSENSE ... THOUGH I DO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO BRAG WHEN I LOSE IT.  I WONDER IF MY THERAPIST HAS AN OPEN WALK-IN FOR THIS WEEK ? ( insert smiley face here ;)
HERE'S TO A GREAT WEEK AND SOME MUCH-NEEDED CARDO ;)

The Crazy Garden

Every child is an artist.  The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.  ~Pablo Picasso
The artist's world is limitless.  It can be found anywhere, far from where he lives or a few feet away.  It is always on his doorstep.  ~Paul Strand
(vintage watering can ;)

WITH THAT SAID, WELCOME TO MY CRAZY GARDEN :)
IT IS TINY, BUT THERE IS LOTS TO LOOK AT...
I PEER AT IT FROM MY KITCHEN WINDOW...
DEFINITELY A CAT LADY'S DOINGS ;)

SINCE IT HAS BEEN INCREDIBLY RAINY AND COOL (THUS THE SUMMER SWEATER), I THOUGHT YOU MIGHT ENJOY A PEEK INTO MY CRAZY WORLD. I NEVER SEEM TO DO ANYTHING IN A 'REGULAR' WAY....
IF YA LOOK REAL CLOSE, YOU MIGHT FIND SOME PLANTS IN THERE ...
(IT CAN'T HURT ;)

The world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful.  ~e.e. cummings
YEP, THERE ARE LIGHTS IN THERE...

Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.  ~Kahlil Gibran

You must not know too much, or be too precise or scientific about birds and trees and flowers and water-craft; a certain free margin, and even vagueness - perhaps ignorance, credulity - helps your enjoyment of these things...  ~Walt Whitman

If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.  ~Eleonora Duse
HELP ME OUT, BELLA, A WILD STRAWBERRY ?
I am not a lover of lawns.  Rather would I see daisies in their thousands, ground ivy, hawkweed, and even the hated plantain with tall stems, and dandelions with splendid flowers and fairy down, than the too-well-tended lawn.  ~W.H. Hudson,The Book of a Naturalist, 1919

The tulip and the butterfly
Appear in gayer coats than I:

Let me be dressed fine as I will,
Flies, worms, and flowers exceed me still.~Isaac Watts
I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it.... People think pleasing God is all God care about.  But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.  ~Alice Walker, The Color Purple, 1982
TOLD YA I LIKE PINK FLAMINGOS :)

A HUNTER IN MOTION ....  SHE'S SO CUTE WHEN SHE TRIED TO BE ALL WILD ;)

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.  ~John Muir
