I THINK MY THERAPIST IS BREAKING UP WITH ME ...

MY POST IS LATE ! EEK !
OH WELL, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SCENERY ANYWAY......
I FOUND THE PERFECT PLACE FOR PHOTOS, AT MY THERAPIST'S PARKING LOT ;) I SWEAR, IT HAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TREES, VIEW, AND EVEN THE HILL BEHIND IT IS GORGEOUS ........
( Not to say that's why I went there ;)
THIS SPOT IS BEHIND THE BUILDING FOR GOODNESS SAKES ! I THINK HE'S FINALLY HAD ENOUGH OF ME, AS THE DAY CONSISTED OF TALKING ABOUT COMPUTERS AND FLASH-DRIVES ;)  I SUPPOSE WHEN THE CONVERSATIONS ARE ABOUT MY COMPUTER, IT'S TIME TO CUT THE CORD........ GET IT? CUT THE CORD? I JUST MADE THAT UP ;)
EVEN THE JANITOR WANTED IN ON THE SHOTS . I AM SUPPOSED TO LEAVE COPIES ON THE SECOND FLOOR AND GIVE THEM TO JOANNE ...........
WHICH BRINGS ME TO A VERY DISAPPOINTING PACKAGE DELIVERY YESTERDAY.
I FINALLY GOT A REMOTE FOR MY CAMMY, ONLY TO FIND I GOT THE WRONG ONE. IT DOESN'T FOCUS AND ONLY GIVES ME 2 SECONDS TO POP OFF YET ANOTHER BLURRY SHOT. GRrr....
( That's why I don't order stuff.... i need lengthy instructions and how-to's before buying something.)  THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE AS FOLLOWS: SET CAMERA TO REMOTE. POINT. SHOOT. THE END.
I GUESS I'LL HAVE TO GET THE 'CAMERA GUY' TO SELL ME "STUFF I DON'T NEED AND CAN'T AFFORD". OH, WELL, LIVE AND LEARN ;)
MY OUTFIT IS CALLED 'BUTTON-PALLOOZA'.  I MADE THIS SWEATER LAST YEAR, AND AM ABOUT TO REMOVE THE BUTTONS. IT'S TIME. THEY NEED TO MOVE ON TO BIGGER AND BETTER PLACES.
I COULDN'T RESIST THE BERET ;)
MY DRESS IS AN 80'S SUNDRESS ( Very full and was worn with leggings back then as well ).
I pinned a fabric flower onto my furry bag and felt like such a girlie girl ;)
WOULD YA JUST LOOK AT THIS TREE !
I felt like a wild hickory nut after all the photos. Hopefully my therapist wasn't watching ....
THE VIEW FROM AUGUST ......
I will be back, Oh Yes, I will be back ......

ALL GROWED UP ....

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE !!!
GUESS WHAT ? I ACTUALLY HAVE GROWN-UP CLOTHES ;) ALTHOUGH MY WONDERFUL MOM CALLS THIS MY 'ELVIS' COAT ;)  - THOUGH IN HER DEFENSE I WAS WEARING MY GIANT WHITE SUNNIES AT THE TIME.
WHEN I SAW THE STYLEUNDERDOG , CREATOR OF STYLE NATION, HOO-YA !
( One of my newest favorite fashionista's ~ I compare her to SJP, effortlessly chic) ~
SPORTING A CREAM TRENCH AND LAYERS A COUPLE WEEKS AGO, I LITERALLY WISHED I COULD GRAB THE OUTFIT RIGHT OFF HER BACK ( but in a nice way....)

SO I IMMEDIATELY RAN TO MY COAT CLOSET........
IT DOES HAVE A CREAM BACKGROUND ;)
I'D NORMALLY PUT THIS BAG AWAY FOR THE WINTER, BUT AM THINKING IN BROADER STROKES THIS YEAR. THANKS, GUYS :)

A BLOGGER ONCE REMOVED .....

I AM WONDERING WHEN MY LOVE OF FASHION TURNED ON ME ?
IT'S ALL A BLUR, BUT THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING  AS THEY SAY .......
I HAD MY THANKSGIVING POSTS ALL LINED UP, EDITED, AND READY TO GO EARLY THIS WEEKEND, SO I WOULD HAVE ALL MY TIME FREED UP TO DO STUFF. INTERACT WITH MY HUBBY. GET SOME MUCH-NEEDED PHONE-TIME IN WITH MY FAMILY AND DE-JUNK THIS RATS NEST I HAVE CREATED.

SO , AS I STOOD UP, NOODLE LEGS AND ALL FROM THE COMPUTER, I SUDDENLY FELT A STRANGE SENSE OF FREEDOM. Ahhhhhh, ACTUALLY EXISTING IN THE REAL WORLD ! FOR 4 FULL DAYS ! WHILE MY COMPUTER RESTED AND GOT A BREAK FROM THE HUMMING SOUND IT HAS BEGUN !
I WENT OUT AND BOUGHT REAL GROCERIES TO SURPRISE MY SELFLESS , NOT-FOR-PROFIT PHONE ANSWERING DO-GOODING HUBBY ;)  I COULDN'T WAIT TO SPEND THE WEEKEND EMOTING. ACTUAL CONVERSATIONS. ACTUAL INTERACTING. ACTUAL CLEANING AND CREATING, NOT PREPPING FOR MY VIRTUAL SHOP.

I PUT AWAY THE GROCERIES AND BEGAN TO WANDER AROUND THE HOUSE. KIND OF IN A STUPOR.  I FELT LOST. WITHOUT PURPOSE.
"COME ON, THERE ARE A HUNDRED THINGS YOU NEED TO GET DONE. CHILL ! " BUT I COULDN'T.
THERE SHE SAT, LIFELESS. THE LITTLE WORLD I LIVE IN HAD BEEN CLOSED FOR THE WEEKEND. STREETS ROLLED UP. NOBODY HOME. SPOOKY ......
I WONDERED WHAT MY BLOG BUDDIES WERE UP TO ?

I WANDERED UP AND DOWN THE HALLWAY FOR A HALF HOUR OR SO.
HEY, I SO NEED A MANICURE ! AS I WAS DOING MY NAILS, I THOUGHT OF A GREAT POST OR TWO TO WORK ON .......  ( OK, I'LL JUST MAKE SOME QUICK NOTES....)
52 SHOTS OF MY FINGERTIPS LATER, I REALIZED I HAD A PROBLEM.
I WAS A BLOG JUNKIE . ALL MY THOUGHT WERE BEING DIRECTED AT "GETTING, USING, AND FINDING WAYS AND MEANS TO GET MORE" (exerpt from Narcotics Anonymous) BLOG TIME !
THE EXACT MOMENT IT HAPPENED, I DO NOT KNOW. WAS IT WHEN I FINALLY FIGURED OUT HOW TO USE MY 'GOOD' CAMERA? WHEN I REACHED THE COVETED 'BIG 100'? OR DID IT START WITH THE VERY FIRST POST ???  I MAY NEVER REALLY KNOW.... AND IS THERE A PATCH ?
attire:
claw-like nails: mine, soon to be gone ;)

HAPPY BLACK FRIDAY EVERYBODY !!!

A SIMPLE COMFY TEE SHIRT DRESS, DENIM JACKET AND PILES-O-PEARLS ;)
Plus a rhinestone brooch is a must for any Chic Granny.
ADD A DIYed BUTTON BERET, (My most favorite thingy this winter, you'll be seeing her bunches :)  BUT FREAK THEM OUT WITH DOTTED TIGHTS AND SLOUCHY BOOTS ...
( Don't forget the shades - they add the right attitude, plus hide those tired poofy eyes ;)

NOW THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF 'GRANNY CHIC' LOOKS ARE THE RED LIP-STICKS THAT RUN INTO THE GRANNY LIP CRACKS (Skip that liner, or it won't pack the embarrassed teenager punch...) And WA LA ! Your shopping partner won't be anywhere near you, so you can sneak and buy their gifts right under their noses ;)  Lipstick teeth are a plus, too !
( Notice it ? )
MWA ! HA HA !!!
YA WANNA GO, LITTLE GIRL? I WILL HAVE THAT LAST $20.00 'CASHMERE' SWEATER !

NOW SINCE BLACK IS THE 'SCHMOE' OF THE COLOR WORLD LATELY, I AM HERE TO DEFEND HER HONOR WITH A FEW NEAT SNIPPETS ON WHY BLACK IS SO GREAT ;)

"Black is practical. It always looks
clean and fairly neat.It's certainly
simple. It's cool. It
also makes you look thinner."

( FROM ONE OF THE COOLEST ACTORS EVER! )

The Effects of the Color Black -
How black affects us physically and mentally:
feeling inconspicuous,
a restful emptiness,
mysterious,
evoking a sense of potential and possibility.

LET THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN ......

OH, MY WHERE TO START ???
WELL, FIRST AND FOREMOST, I GIVE THANKS TODAY FOR THE BOUNTY THAT I AM ABOUT TO RECEIVE.....
THEN I'M GONNA GIVE YOU SOME IDEAS FOR DIYed GIFTS BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT TOMORROW DURING THE MOST PROFITABLE RETAIL DAY OF THE YEAR:
BLACK FRIDAY !!!!
I'll start with my favorite DIY idea of the year!
An Angora Beret with vintage buttons :) ~ this one is a Jacklyn Smith, under $15. The buttons are from old sweaters/tops with a few vintage ones sewn on. I do the thread in black for the hand-made appeal.  There are many shops on Etsy and the Citizen Rosebud does vintage buttons really well on sweaters and other neat stuff. This year, my goal is to spend minimal, but give something unique.
CUSTOM FRAMED COLLAGE
I made this one years ago, but for Mom or Grandma, print some photos on heavy paper, tear the edges, paste on a large piece of paper or poster board and find a great frame at a charity shop! ( I prefer black and whites as they will go with any decor.) ~ Or find some old magazines and do one in a 'theme'. This one is celebrating women :)  ~ How about a Fashion Theme for your gal pals ?
A 'MEMORIES' PHOTO
I found this very old polaroid from a vacation we took in the 70's to Florida. I took a photo of the original and edited out all the nicks and scratches, then designed a 'frame'. I'm gonna put it in a thrifted wooden frame for my Dad. Great Memories make Great Gifts :)
CUSTOM TEES OR SWEATSHIRTS !
This is one of my favorites ;) You can buy tees or sweatshirts for a few bucks!  Then find an image that the 'giftee' would like. ( Or a favorite Quote! ) Get some printable iron-ons for about $10 for 10 pages, and get print happy!  ~  This year cropped tees and sweatshirts are on my Santa list :)
A CUSTOM QUOTE PAGE
Everyone has a favorite quote :) or even a favorite landmark !
Print and frame. WA-LA !
DIY BELTS AND CORSETS
( This is not for beginners ;) It requires sewing skills....)
CUSTOM PRINTS
Find an image that you're 'giftee' really likes, hit print (use photo paper for best quality) and Wa-La!
HAND-MADE CHIP CLIPS :)
This company has a great web-site ( naturallife.com ) ~ but doing it yourself is much better ( and thriftier ;)  ~  These go for $12 bucks!
HAND-MADE TEA TOWELS
( also by Natural life ) ~ Now by YOU ;)

AND THE DREAM DIYer'S AREA !!!
MY OH MY !!!!!
( THE CENTER-POINT AT TOKO BARU, CINCINNATI )
Most items are from Natural Life. A DIY DREAM SOFA .......

THE COOLEST AND MOST INFORMATIVE FASHION BOOK EVER!
THIS ONE ISN'T CHEAP ( FROM $30 USED TO $45 NEW, BORDERS BOOKS .COM ) But is highly recommended for it's fantastic real-time images and information on all styles from the 1900's til 2000.  ~ ( I got this one from the Library ;)
Some of the most beautiful photos I've ever seen...
and tons of information :)
WOW ! Guess what Era this is ? ;)

And if you didn't buy your Christmas cards at the end-of-season last year,
WHY NOT MAKE THEM ?
All you need: a photo (which we all have ;), a text/paint program and a printer. Glue image (on heavy card-stock or paper) to another heavy card-stock, and WA LA ! Everyone gets to look at you hanging on the mantle ;) TEE, HEE ;)

I HOPE YOU HAVE SOME COOL IDEAS BEFORE YOU GO OUT TOMORROW AND HAND OVER YOUR HARD-EARNED CASH TO THE MAN !

NOW THIS IS FOR MY BRITISH FRIEND, VIX !
ENJOY ........

THANKSGIVING: WHY AND WHAT FOR ???
A brief tale by me...........
When I was a little girl, growing up in the Mid-Western US, and living amongst the Children Of The Corn, I was taught a story about a bunch of 'Pilgrims', 'Indians', and really big belt buckles.
Where a bunch of nice people made friends with the natives and they all ate turkey, 'maize' and pumpkin pie.

Fast forward to Adulthood and this is the real scoop ( at least in my opinion........)
Thanksgiving is a "Harvest Festival" in which we give thanks each year for all our blessings, then proceed to stuff ourselves with turkey, pie, a huge fat-filled dinner and lay back on the couch and watch football.  It falls on the 4th Thursday of November since 1863.
A day of Parades, School plays about "befriending" Native Americans, and the count-down to a Christmas shopping fiasco named "Black Friday" because this day sends most retailers who were in the 'red' all year, into the 'black', or in the profit zone. ( I believe Black Friday has a double meaning- just ask any retail worker............)

It's a day filled with "myths" as well.
1. If the 'pilgrims' actually landed on Plymouth Rock, the boat would have been smashed to smithereens ;)
( Supposidly the Pilgrims were the first settlers in America......) ~ though the Spanish arrived way earlier.
2.  The first settlers weren't even called 'pilgrims' but 'saints', 'seperatists' or 'puritans'.
They were strict rigid fundamentalists, who thought the "new world" (their 'escape' from European religious persecution), was theirs for the taking, not caring that the land was already occupied by Native Americans.
Thanksgiving is a time of mourning for many Native Americans, a bitter reminder of 500 yrs. of betrayal as the land was over-taken by the White Man who spread disease and basically wiped out the Native Tribes.
(Diclaimer: these are just my ideas and opinions....... )

So basically it can be summed up by these words: Holiday, Turkey, Shopping, Tradition, Family, Misguided History Lessons ;)
PUMPKIN PIE ANYONE ?
( facts/info: Wikipedia.com and oyate.com )

I like to think of Thanksgiving as a time of Thanks. Period. But isn't everyday Thanksgiving really?
xXx
