Ah, Summer.
While most people are breaking out their bikinis and popping hot-dogs on the grill, I will be inside, head drooped over the AC. I don't enjoy heat - unless I'm near the ocean. Summer to me is a time of sweat, oceans of plain (non-layered) clothes, flat hair and plump white fleshy arms. Wringing my boobs out ever 10 minutes and peering down my cleavage as the sweat disappears who-knows-where...
Black becomes an enemy, and you know I LOVE black.
But, as most style-minded folks do, I try. I try and try to work a long-sleeved top while keeping 'the girls' in a supportive bra - Without dying. I wear my floppy hats and big sunnies. I am always tempted to throw caution to the wind, pitch the sunscreen and just get a damn tan.
Here is my attempt to layer in the heat. I know most will disagree with my lack-luster view
of summer, so I'm finished bitching. BUT - the next time you hear the hot-dogs sizzling,
think of me...sizzle...sizzle...sizzle...
Sunscreen is also very HOT.
However, as a +40 woman who overexposed herself in the 70's, I resist.

In it's defense,
There are a few upsides to summer, however.
Sunglasses, soft maxi dresses, up-do's, fun nail polish and funky sandals!
Hummingbirds, the smell of freshly mown grass, and roses.

And, of course, vacations to the beach.
Every year, around this time, I consider moving to Seattle.
I wonder if Bella has a two bedroom?

SWIMSUIT COVER-UP AS DRESS / THRIFTED SKIRT / PINK TANK / KROGER SCARF / BLACK MULES
I wonder how many sunnies I can collect this summer?

And Joni has a basement apartment in Seattle! Just think how much fun it would be to live on the same property!! Oh boy!! I'm sure my photos would improve! And I'd have a TON more outfits...Actually Reva, I just had a dream that I met you last week. It was pretty cool! And it's very cool in Seattle. Only like 45 degrees. brrrr
How did it get to be Memorial Day so fast???? I have no summer stuff unpacked and don't know where to find it and I need it! My wish is to live in a perpetual climate in the mid 60'd to lower 70's.... and I wish me feet really were resilient enough to wear flip-flops all of the time!
I am born and raised in Texas and do not like heat...go figure...the most depressing part is that summer usually last until October with September being the worst part..in the hundreds. If I ever figure out a formal to help others like it, I will let you know. Right now, hanging the head over the AC seems to work!!
I love this outfit. I think that dress-that-is-really-a-cover-up is super cute.
I don't like the heat. In Maryland I lived close to a mountain so summers, while hot, were still tolerable. In Philly it's just hot and muggy and gross. Hate it!
Email sent...I'm so excited that I won!! Thank you!
Also, it's been fun watching those Hasta plants grow. I've been comparing them to mine but mine have slug bites in the leaves again. ack!
I'm with you on summer!! I hate the heat and humidity. I'm a cold weather gal--you can always layer on more clothes to get warmer but there's a li mit to what you can take off before you scare pets and lil children or get arrested!!
hmmmm the older I get the more I like the cool weather. Although - a bit of sunshine gets me up and going! Loving the sunnies - and the scarf :)
Reva...I don't so summer well either. The heat sucks all my energy. Dressing for summer is a painful thing...especially finding bottoms that are flattering on my shape. Thank God for nautical....I wear it all summer.
Now, give me summer in the 70's temps and I will take it!
Thanks for dropping in at my place! (Don't you ♥ Vix?!?)
I'm with you 100% - hate the heat and especially when it comes with humidity. It's the pits!
I'll be doin' more fashion when I lost my last 10 pounds. I have a closet-full of clothes going to waste and I'm just about ready to pull 'em out and strut my stuff again. Meanwhile, it's mostly "wares" (as I call 'em) from thrift stores...
Well, I struggle with the humidity and the heat in August, but otherwise I'm down with summer. Your skirt is just gorgeous. Is that something you thrifted?
Love that white skirt and the scarf, Reva. And you've reminded me that I need to try to wear my black slip on shoes because they're so comfy.
LOL This made me smile! I too have to wring my boobs out every 10 min! I'm a Florida girl, so I hear ya..thinking of putting deodorant on my entire body. Bahaha
That said, you look absolutely fabulous! :D That skirt is so lovely; love the detail.
Here's to AC! Cheers!
I am in fear of summer this year...I have enough flashing heat on the cold days...i have move already to sleeping by the window...what will I do when the outside heat moves in this summer...????
I an enamored with your 'beauty routine"....kudos!
Reva, I'm with you sister! As they say, "it's not the heat, it's the humidity" and we get a lot of that in Southwestern Ontario in the summer. It makes it very difficult to put together an interesting outfit when all I want to wear is a loose dress, but we will persevere!
The layering of the black dress over the white slip is genius. GENIUS. you are cool as fuck. Forgive my French.
