Paint it Black

Black: the color of objects that absorb nearly all light of all visible wavelengths; the opposite of white. 

Black is sometimes considered the "schmoe" of the fashion world in Summer. The Zeppo. The reasons are valid as far as it seems hotter and doesn't reflect sunlight. Black is sometimes the go-to color when I'm feeling uninspired. A "flaw" hider and something to wear when I want to feel thinner. So, I decided to shine a light on the pro's of wearing black, even in Summer! This strapless F21 maxi-dress is comfy, breezy cotton. I found this little cropped top at Goodwill on 2 dollar day, and the belt was sent to me by Vintage Vixen.  So, I'm here to put a positive spin "Back in Black" !

IN FASHION:  Black is considered stylish, sexy, elegant and powerful.

The colloquialism " X is the new black" means the current trend is a wardrobe basic, on the basis that Black is always fashionable!

How the color affects us physically:

* Provides a restful emptiness

* Is mysterious by evoking a sense of potential and possibility!

* Makes us feel inconspicuous, Tee,Hee!

* In ancient China, Black was the symbol of North and Water, one of the 5 main colors.

" In The Black" means being free of debt ! Yipee!!!

Black Friday is the most profitable day in retail, and can put an otherwise "in the red" business "In The Black".

Black symbolizes the combination of all colors of the universe.

 Dr.Jigor Kano, founder of Judo, created divisions among students using belt colors, in order to give students recognition for certain achievements. The Black belt is the highest color belt in most Martial Arts.

From Black, all colors originate and spring up to create the lively rainbow.

Black is associated with anarchy - which can be a positive when questioning authority !

This is my go-to-dress up look for parties. I entered this one in the Weardrobe best holiday frock contest.It's a crochet type lace frock. I've worn it to many parties and it always makes me feel good. Basic black is what i always wear when in doubt, whether a party or anywhere. It's confidence in a color! I thrifted this  dress a few years ago, and put a spaghetti strap slip underneath. I wear my long black coat with it and can pair it with tights or pants. This year I've paired a scarf and my take on the Ankle chain look. These are ankle bracelets i bought on vacation!  I add updated shoes with each wear as the frock seems timeless. I added a vest and tied the scarf for a more casual look, but love the dress by itself better. I added a cocktail ring and blingy bracelet with big rhinestone clip earrings. When I go to a party, I like to wear my hair up so i don't worry about it getting limp (my hair is very thin). A pop of Berry lipstick and I'm ready to go! Wish me luck and fun! (I couldn't find my slip in the photo- but it adds much needed coverage with tights! With pants, I skip the slip! Hey, that's a good name for a blog! Skip the Slip!   *REVA*

LONG BLACK SKIRTS/MOD HOSTESS

There's nothing more comfy than a long, full skirt with leggings underneath. I wear footless ones for comfort as I can put on my cute slippers, socks, or flats. *TIP: It's easier to cross your legs without feet in your leggings! I add a scarf for pop or dangling earrings. Remember to take off scarf before cooking, an I always put my hair up to keep unwanted guests in the stuffing!
