PATCHOULI PACKIN MAMMA / PASHMINA AS A WAIST WRAP

I love trends as much as the next gal (usually!), but really, I'm a Patchouli  Packing mamma from University Heights with a journal in one hand and a magic 8 ball in the other. And, I live with a guitarist! with that said....

Imagine it's 2000 B.C. and there's no thread or sewing machines invented yet, but fabric, safety pins and belts DO exist! What would you do?

I love to take pashminas, scarves, sarongs and even old table cloths and "invent" a new wearable item. All it takes is imagination, some safety pins or brooches, maybe a belt or just your hand and make a knot!

MY FAVORITE PASHMINA.

TOOK A BIG PIN AND PINNED THE PASHMINA AT MY WAIST (You can tie it first, too-but I wanted to try it this way), THEN I ADDED A BLACK BELT OVER FOR CINCHING.
(This works really well with an hour-glass figure-I have a thick waist, so I would girdle myself in if going "out-out", and cinch the belt tighter.)

WORE IT OVER PALLAZO PANTS, AND A BANDED TUNIC. THIS CREATES A MORE HOUR-GLASS LOOK WHEN THE PANT IS WIDE AT THE BOTTOM.
MADE A LOOSE, MESSY SIDE PONY-TAIL WITH MY HAIR.

I DIDN'T "CINCH" WELL ENOUGH, BUT YOU GET THE JIST.

DECIDED TO GO ALL OUT HIPPY-MAMMA AND THREW ON A DEEP GREEN KNITTED SHAWL (Thus de-tracting from my waist!)

I LIKED BEING ALL DRAPED. I WANTED TO READ A SOMEONE'S FORTUNE!

LOTS OF LONG EARTHY NECKLACES AND BEADS.

MY SECRET RING.

I'VE HEARD THAT MYSTICS USED THESE RING FOR CARRYING HERBS. I'VE ALSO HEARD THEY USED TO HOLD "STASHES" OF OPIUM OR COCAINE. DON'T REALLY KNOW, BUT I JUST LIKED IT!

I WORE BROWN FLATS TO BREAK UP THE HEAD-TO-TOE BLACK FABRIC.

OH YEAH, AND MY FAV. BROWN THRIFTED SATCHEL.

THE SIDE-PONY HAIR DO IS EASY!
Before bed, while watching Mad Men or Bones, curl ends of hair with a small barrel iron. Spray til crunchy! then next morning, make a low pony, take a couple bobby-pins and grab the "nest" of hair, mush and pin in the middle. Be sure to keep it loose. Strands will fall out and create this "do". You can add more pins if u want, but the key is to look messy.

MY OUTFIT:
*Pashmina: Kroger. (I KNOW! Who knew?!)less than $10.00
*Pallazo pants: thrifted, old.
*Tunic: Pink Rose, Sears.
* Necklaces: Penny's, Sears, Thrifted.
*Beads: World Mkt.
* Skinny belt: Old Navy, clearance.
*Brown flats: Sam & Libby.
*Knitted shawl: thrifted for $1.50, Valley Thrift.
*Satchel: thrifted, Goodwill $4.00.

OTHER WAYS I'VE WORN WRAPS :

a sarong as a dress and as a skirt.

I love the way you layered this shawl and your splattering of beads and necklaces! You have totally inspired me to pull out more jewelry! I also really enjoyed your interview with the lovely lady in the most current post! I read EVERY WORD of it! I have been blogging for a few months now, but It is always helpful to get more information. I love the sentence "physician, heal thyself" or how ever that goes! I taught myself every aspect of blogging through trial and error and I feel super really happy I took the time to do that. It makes me feel like I really own the look and feel of my blog. So happy to find you! I regretfully don't visit Weardrobe very much and I only yesterday realized that weardrobe sends notifications if you get comments! It is so cool that you found me there! I am very happy to find you here!
