Transition Outfit and DIY Brooch

Happy Monday!

 When I thrifted this baby-poop colored Cardigan,

(by Mossimo), I knew it would come in handy with pale pinks. 

And sure enough, I had the perfect scarf to match. We are in fashion transition here in the mid-west. As I type, the thunder is rolling through bringing us a bunch of rain.

   Right now, I am in a neutral, earth-toned mood. I've also been doing some DIY's with old military items and did this little pin today, too. It started with a super large gold safety pin and bunches of trinkets that were laying around. There's even a 

fancy button on there :) It's an easy way to show off your little treasures...

Gold plus Silver is so much more interesting.

   And a Gabriel Brother's store just went into our neighborhood! I had never heard of it, but had to check it out last night and WOW! Name brands, (some seconds), and faboo prices. Designer brands that didn't 'sell' for the Dept. store prices, now at low, low prices for us... Since I am still pledging to be thrifty and buy pre-loved merchandise (when possible), I only bought some basics like tall leggings, an H&M tee ($3.99), designer earrings and other accessories for $3.99 each and SHhhh....

A new hat and Forever 21 nude shoes ( hat:$5.99 - shoes:$12.99 )

I wasn't really that bad .....

Though I may need to find a new route to the grocery...

WELL, TOMORROW IS MY ONE YEAR "BLOG-OVERSARY" .
 MY FIRST POST ( ACCORDING TO BLOGGER ) WAS NOVEMBER 13TH ( A FRIDAY THE 13TH! ). THE TITLE WAS CALLED "WELCOME TO MY WORLD", FOLLOWED QUICKLY BY " BREAKING THE GLASS LENS " ;)  ~ A GRIPE POST ABOUT AGEISM....  AND WOW A LOT OF MY OLD IMAGES ARE BROKEN LINKS NOW :) OOPS!


SINCE THEN, I HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH, MADE SOME OF THE GREATEST FRIENDS, AND HAD A GREAT TIME CREATING SOMETHING I AM PROUD OF. ~ NOT TO FORGET HONING MY PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS IN THE PROCESS :)  ~ AT LEAST I THINK SO ;)
I BELIEVE MY STYLE SENSE HAD EXPANDED,  AND I'VE BEEN OPENED UP TO SO MANY MORE POSSIBILITIES. I ACTUALLY LIKE TO SHOP MY CLOSET NOW !

I normally don't show my wrinkles, but this stuff really made my skin smoother and didn't "sink" in ;)

I'm actually impressed ! ( Nope they didn't pay me a nickle to plug it ;)

PINK LEGS

I SWEAR THESE TIGHTS AREN'T AS BRIGHT AS THEY LOOK ;)  ~  WELL, ALMOST. I THINK IT'S TIME TO FIND A NEW SPOT TO TAKE PHOTOS. AS THE SUN MOVES, THE LIGHTING INEVITABLY CHANGES, AND BEFORE YOU KNOW IT, THE DREADED INDOOR PHOTOS ;)
I HAVE AN EVEN TOUGHER TIME GETTING THE COLORS SPOT ON WHEN INDOORS.

Nightie Top and Tropical Florals / Spring Fling !

Cincinnati Fashion Week started off with a bang ! This is what I wore to the Spring Fling in Western Hills. I was worried about whether it was casual or dressy, so I decided that I'd check out some of the people going into the affair, first. I blended. It was casual. I was greeted at the door with champagne and some of the neatest crafters, designers and vendors. I met so many nice people, and I met Megan of FENNOfashion. Her vintage inspired jewelry was to die for ! She recycles vintage pieces and makes them timeless, plus her use of crystals blew me away! Her vision and talent was unsurpassed !  As well as her sparkling personality ! Can't wait to show off my goodies. There were so many great ideas I tucked away and also scored a fantastic geode piece! I am really proud of the talent that resides in my home-town! After all, one of the top schools for Creative and Performing Arts is right down town ! I hope to go to another event this coming week!

I wore a tropical floral cropped silk pant (thrifted), a turquoise fitted tank under a sheer nightie. Yep, a nightie! I added a sheer cropped cardi and scarf for layers and my Candie's mules. I love florals and have always been drawn to the tropical prints, without the obvious Hula theme. I really like the resort wear looks for this summer. A lot of tropical florals !

I strapped this recently thrifted small Aigner summer bag across my shoulders. It's small , but big enough for the essentials without lugging a heavy purse. It blended as well. Shannon, of Dirty Hair Halo has been sporting this type of bag lately and I so ripped this trend off !

I actually washed my hair and styled it, or you might have seen a funky hat as well!

COOL CORAL DRESS

This may be my latest favorite go-to outfit. I was very afraid of the dreaded empire style waist. I looked preggers in most of them. I found that if I avoid elastic and high-belting, the fullness accentuates my hip area. Or lack of hips area ! It's funny how seeing photos are so much different than the mirror! This dress was a vacation dress for the beachy HHI. I added a full cream skirt underneath for x-tra length.

I have a lot of light colors and fabrics for this season's nude / pastel palette, thanks to my beachy love.

Adding a couple of light scarves make them more up-to-date and less swimsuit cover-up looking.

My hat is from Target, Shades by Cosmo Girl, thrifted scarves.

My favorite turquoise ring was bought at a flea market in Florida in the 80's. One of the best $10 bucks ever spent !

Accessories can really add a personal style punch to any outfit. It's like imprinting yourself onto a trend !

My weekend is going to be spent clearing out closets and trying to get some sun on my legs!

( Plus, a new coat of polish on my toe-nails.)

SIMPLE GREEN AND BLACK LAYERS

Wind and a vintage Scarf !

A Pink Beret .

A Black and Gray Cardigan.

A Heart Shaped brooch.

Green leggings and Brown boots with white socks.

A white cardigan underneath and my black tunic dress over a forest green turtleneck.

And green and copper dangle earrings.

A simple outfit for running errands . I believe this scarf was originally made for a man , thus making it wider and longer . Not alot to say today . Getting prepared for my trip and feeling a cold coming on = Oh NO !

The layers were warm and cozy . I think I'll have some warm cocoa !
