CONTRASTS

IN THE MID-WESTERN PART OF THE U.S. THE SEASONS ARE SEVERE. THE SUMMER'S ARE HOT AND STICKY, WHILE THE WINTER FREEZES YOU TO THE BONE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN ONE TO WISH MYSELF AWAY DURING THE SEVERE MONTHS. I USED TO LONG FOR SEATTLE IN THE SUMMER (During my grunge days ) AND CALIFORNIA ( during the long, dark winter months ).
AS I AGE, THE IRONY ISN'T LOST ON ME, AS I WISH FOR THE WARMTH OF YOUTH AND ALSO THE 'FIRMNESS' ;)  ~  BUT WITH AGE COMES WISDOM AND THE COMFORT OF KNOWING WHO I AM AND THAT WITHOUT 'CONTRAST' IT WOULD BE A VERY DULL WORLD :)
WHICH KIND OF GOES WITH THE OUTFIT TODAY! A SUMMER SKIRT ON THE BOTTOM - WINTER WEAR ON THE TOP :)  ~ LETTING GO ALWAYS TAKES TIME .....

SEVENTIES SHEET SKIRT

This skirt was made from a "Vintage" sheet. I have always been drawn to the patterns and colors of 70's bedding. The colors are usually less stark and the fabric is softer. I thrifted this one many years ago, and my Mom made pillow cases out of it first. The process is the same as my Apple skirt - stitch, elastic and done! The bottom is already hemmed. I was going to wear it today with a simple white T, wide brown belt and platform sandals, but I was not feeling well and am still in my p.j's (at 7.30pm!). I wore this on Saturday. I got the elastic too loose, so I wrapped a purple scarf around my waist to hold it up. I fixed it that night. I enhanced the colors so you can see the pretty pattern. There's a little purple butterfly on the red flower!

I like to mix light florals with heavy leather. It was a cool, windy evening so out came the bomber jacket!

This skirt will be a super casual throw-and-go. Hanging out in my yard, over my swimsuit, T-shirty skirt.
Something to run errands in or mow the grass so I can get some sun skirt! When I get sleepy, I can lay in a lounge chair and take a nap, not worrying about wrinkling it, and dreaming simple 70's dreams!

NEUTRALS AND BOOTS

My favorite clothes season is Fall or Spring. Sweater Weather. Mother Nature gave me a nice ending to spring this weekend. In a few more days it's supposed to  be in the 70's. After the longest Feb. in history, I'm not complaining!

At first , I put on these vintage peep toes, but they didn't seem to work.

Then I tried my old Eastland hikers. Maybe with sox ? But still didn't seem to work. Then I remembered my really tall, black riders hadn't been worn all winter, so I grabbed them instead. I liked the contrast.

They kinda went with the grays in my flower and scarf.

I layered a cream skirt, a cotton slip-dress over a pale green T, and one of my fav. sweaters.
Done !

Dark green tights by Land's End , Scarf by Ann Taylor, thrifted.

I felt very "Me" in this look.

I used to wear these boots to work almost daily when I first got them. They are very worn. Then I found a similar , shorter pair that I've worn for the past 2 yrs. I likes me boots !!!
Today, the sun is Shinin' and I'm heading out to the Library then for a walk. See Ya !
