HOLIDAY RAMBLES IN JEANS AND BOOTS .....

AS I'M SITTING HERE, THUNDER IS ROLLING ACROSS THE SKY. TIMES THEY ARE A CHANGIN' ;)
THIS WEEK IS A BUSY WEEK FOR MOST AS EVERYONE IS COUNTING DOWN TO TURKEY DAY.
NOVEMBER IS NOT ONE OF MY FAVORITE MONTHS OF THE YEAR. FOR ONE, SINCE BOTH OUR FAMILIES ARE OUT-OF-TOWN, WE USUALLY WAIT UNTIL CHRISTMAS TO DO OUR TRAVELING.
I USED TO WORK RETAIL ON 'BLACK FRIDAY' AND IT SEEMED THAT MANY FOLKS WERE IN SUCH A RUSH. LUCKILY, THIS YEAR, I WON'T BE OUT AND ABOUT ON SUCH A CRAZY DAY :) BONUS !!!
I AVOID THE BLACK FRIDAY MADNESS !
I DON'T EVEN PEEK OUT OF MY WINDOW ;)

NOVEMBER IS MY DAD'S BIRTHDAY MONTH AND I MISS MY PARENTS TERRIBLY DURING THE HOLIDAY SEASON.

MY WONDERFUL HUBBY IS VOLUNTEERING ALL EVENING ON THANKSGIVING.
(He was interviewed today for the Centerpoint Health.org newsletter. I am so proud of him ;)
I HOPE TO GO GET OUR GREAT AUNT DOT FOR DINNER ( as she lives downtown and doesn't have a lot of family to share the holidays with )
AND BOY DOES BITTY LOVE TURKEY ;) - or maybe KFC ;)

I AM DEFINITELY NOT FEELING UNGRATEFUL, HOWEVER :) ~ THIS YEAR HAS HELD MANY BLESSINGS FOR ME :) I SEE MANY MORE IN THE UPCOMING FUTURE AS WELL !
TO ME, THE HOLIDAYS ARE ABOUT GRATITUDE AND LOVE,  Not gifts and  'things'.
GIVING OF ONE'S SELF AND SPENDING PRECIOUS TIME WITH THE ONES WE LOVE,
That's where my heart is around this season. A good meal is a bonus, too ;)
LAST YEAR I DID A SERIES ON THE MODERN HOSTESS. THIS YEAR, I'M LAYING LOW ;)
WHAT DOES THIS SEASON MEAN TO YOU ?
COMMERCIALISM AT IT'S WORST, OR PEACE ON EARTH ?
( I believe it's a bit of both, but in the end, the hugs and laughter are what we remember most...)
BY THE BY, I couldn't keep my hands out of my pockets!
ah, the mystery of the jean.......
Remember the "Initial" Pins ? I bought tons..... ( now that they're 'out' lets bring em back ;)
MY OUTFIT WAS A QUICKIE TODAY.
USUALLY ONE OF MY OUTFITS ENDS UP OVER-RIDING THE "PLANNED" ONE :)
THIS IS THAT OUTFIT.... ( I'm trying to wear some of my pile-o-jeans (A.E.) thrifted,
a thrifted top, (which I was, and still am, planning on wearing  as a skirt).... my fav. 'ballerina'cropped sweater (Targei').... another thrifted scarf..... a pile-o-brooches..... and the find of the century, thrifted cowboy boots by Tony Lama! ~ giant hoops (Claire's, $1.00) ..... vintage sunnies.
Bye, sweet autumn :)
The neighborhood is getting all cozy :)
as everyone speeds towards Christmas and a New Year !

Oh, fabulous hippie chic! Love the delicate ruffled cami and the tough boots.
Please educate us Brits about Thanksgiving, we know the history but what do you guys do and eat on that day? Is is bigger than Xmas? Excuse my ignorance! xxx

I have two favorite things about this outfit! 1. Is your lovely circle scarf: you pull it off so well! 2. Is your cameo brooch. It is so beautiful, and I kind of want to steal it from you, heh.

Maybe I'm still just a naive young girl, but the holidays are still so very magical for me. I love the hustle and bustle. The bright lights and ringing sounds. The warm smiles and even warmer love that's felt. I.love.the.holidays!

I like EVERYTHING about your outfit from the scarf to the ring to the boots...down here we put cowboy boots with everything and I agree with you these were a great find for you!! I am one of those holiday lovers and I guess I just like everything about it. My daughter and I plan to be in cold, horrible weather on Black Friday and I think it is the experience with her that I love the most! But this weekend I will be a little sad while I put away the pumpkins!

love that coral scarf against those dusky blues. the scarf also amps up the coral tones in the boots - yummy yummy, and a particularly flattering palette on you.

have a wonderful holiday! steph

I'm with tinyjunco on the coral scarf. I've noticed these little changes all week--leafless trees and blighted flowers. it's a lovely photo essay you've offered here.

I'm not in the spirit just yet. I'm buried under a pile of research papers. :(

I'm sorry about your parents. I was wondering why you wouldn't like November ( i love fall season) but now I think I understand. It's got to be hard.

That said, kudos to hubby: what a great Tday activity! And me, I'm just chillin' letting my sweet boyfriend take me out to a nice restaurant for dinner. A big treat for me!

HUGs to you Reva. (ps that cowl scarf looks so good on you!)
