Grannies Got it Goin' On....

Hi everybody...

It's kind of hard to post about clothes today. 

The chaos that keeps landing on America's doorstep is overwhelming. 

But, I suppose you still have to get dressed. 

So, here's what I wore today for errands, my to do lists, 

and plain old utter confusion...

Life seems to march on here in Cincy, though at a more somber pace today.

So, I believe an overdose of flowers - Granny Chic -  is in order :)

Grannies have always had all the answers, plus great style too!

I suppose it's all that mish-mosh that helps keep them sane...

Walking Tall Bohemian

Hi all :)

OK, I bought these boots last year at an end-of-season sale from the Newport News Outlet. They were only $19.50 (I Know!) - So I couldn't resist. Since then, every time I've wanted to wear the suckers, it has been wet. So, by gosh, I'm wearing them every chance I get til they 

roast my feet this Spring. 

You've been warned!

I've had most of the clothes for years. The scarf was during the 'lacey-hippie-scarf' trend, 

but I love it, plus it was only 2 bucks. Proof positive that personal style doesn't have to cost a fortune. (I'm fond of my groceries...) I mostly use it as a scarf, but here's another way to sport it, too...

And, I'm sending a big fat HELLO to my new buds...

I was a bit apprehensive about this look as I have so many ideas to do for the new Tuesday posts, but this look is popping up all over the place. I may do another later this summer, but this is what I came up with today.

I was going to copy this look to the T, (which I may later on), as I had a Jungle-worthy jacket, white shirt and sarong (as a skirt). However, I wanted to show the different ways to do this trend. It is a mix of safari gear or tribal looks and regular everyday basics. I did a similar take a few years back...

Aren't these the most terrible shots ever!

And that hat!

(This is a great lesson in looking forward, not backwards)

Summer in Silk....

Happy Monday everyone :)
I am wearing silk and loving it ! I used to avoid silk, as the "dry-clean-only" tag made me shiver, plus I somehow thought silk was a 'fancy' fabric - a bit too stuffy for me...
But lately, I am not enjoying wearing the traditional tanks and anything that shows too much arm (or boob ;) so, I gave silk a go. I wanted something cool as the temps. here in Cincy are hot and very sticky.


I have always scooped up silk scarves, but never was quite sure what to wear with silk in the summer.... A silk blouse with jeans or pants was all I could think of, til I saw this silk skirt while thrifting and decided the best way to don silk may just be with another piece of silk!

I wanted to keep my 'style' in the mix and not look like I was on a job interview (though I think this would be great), so the skirt was luckily above the knee and I paired some vintage T-straps, brooch, necklace and of course a silk scarf in my hair ;)
I actually felt well put-together and not so sweaty 
all at the same time! Mom would be so proud :)

I brought the outfit into the "now" by mixing and matching prints...

HI EVERYBODY !

AS A WAY TO REGAIN SOME SENSE OF PURPOSE. IT WAS A TIME OF THE USUAL CONFLICTS THAT SNEAK UP ON US "40 SOMETHINGS"...

WANTING NEEDING TO GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH MY CREATIVE SIDE, 

NEEDING A MAJOR LIFE RENOVATION... 

A SOUL COLONIC,  IF YOU WILL... 

I KNEW I LOVED PHOTOGRAPHY

AND SEE FASHION AS ANOTHER FORM OF ART.

I KNEW THIS WOULD BE A GREAT VENUE TO START.

TWO LOVES ROLLED INTO ONE...

BUT, LATELY, I AM FEELING A BIT ON THE "EMPTY" SIDE. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LOOOOVE TAKING PHOTOS, I HAVE ABOUT 40 OUTFITS READY TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED. I HAVE THE PROPER "BLOG POSES" DOWN PAT. I LOVE AND APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERY PERSON WHO POPS BY TO SAY HI. BUT SOMETIMES I WISH I COULD ACTUALLY SIT DOWN WITH YOU, AND NOT WORRY ABOUT THE LATEST "APP" I MUST HAVE TO GROW AND SHARE MY PASSION WITH YOU AND OTHERS ....

I SUPPOSE THAT IS THE NATURE OF THINGS.

CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT.....

SO, NOW THE INNER "CONFLICT" IS BEING RETHOUGHT. 

HOW DOES ONE TAKE THEMSELVES TO THE NEXT LEVEL?

AS A HUMAN BEING-

NOT IN THE ALTERNATE UNIVERSE I LOVINGLY CALL BLOGDONIA...

ALTHOUGH, THAT'S WHERE WE HAPPEN TO HAVE MET ;)

I AM SEEING A 'TREND' EVOLVING ALL OVER THE BLOG WORLD LATELY.

SOME BLOGGERS GIVING IT UP ALTOGETHER. MANY RE-THINKING THEIR ROLES AS  FASHION BLOGGERS. TWEAKING THEIR BLOGS AND SOMETIMES TAKING THEM IN A NEW DIRECTION ALTOGETHER. MAYBE THIS IS AN INEVITABLE CHANGE. AN EVOLUTION OF SORTS. I'M NOT SURE. I DO BELIEVE THAT WE OWE IT TO OURSELVES TO "CHECK IN" WITH OUR INTENTIONS EVERY SO OFTEN. I KNOW MAYBE THAT'S ALL IT IS, MAYBE NOT. 

I WONDER IF THERE IS A NEW "APP" 

FOR SOUL SEARCHING,

LIKE "WWW.DOTHISNEXT.COM" OR "TWEET ME, I'LL GIVE YOU FOCUS".....

WHAT I DO KNOW:

ART IS CRUCIAL FOR GROWTH AND FASHION IS ANOTHER FORM OF ART.

I DO KNOW I'M READY TO DO MORE THAN JUST "SHOW UP", 

TAKING UP PRECIOUS SPACE AND OXYGEN-

BUT BEYOND THAT, I'M NOT SURE. 

SO FOR NOW, I WILL KEEP SHOWING UP, 

LISTENING AND LOOKING FOR THE SUBTLE 'CLUES' THAT WILL LEAD ME FORWARD TO THE FULFILLMENT I TRULY SEEK ;)

OH YEAH, AND BUY PRE-LOVED CLOTHING ;)
