Fashion and Philosophy Series / Seasonal Introspection

HI EVERYBODY !
WELL, HERE I SIT, ANOTHER SEASON PASSED, AND TIME FOR MY "INNER-CONFLICT-SOUL-SEARCHING-WHAT-THE-HELL-IS-IT-ALL-ABOUT AND WHAT-CAN-I DO-TO-BE-A-BETTER-HUMAN" SEASONAL TURMOIL.

I STARTED THIS BLOG,
AS MOST OF YOU KNOW,
(IF NOT, HERE'S THE SKINNY)
AS A WAY TO REGAIN SOME SENSE OF PURPOSE. IT WAS A TIME OF THE USUAL CONFLICTS THAT SNEAK UP ON US "40 SOMETHINGS"...
WANTING NEEDING TO GET BACK IN TOUCH WITH MY CREATIVE SIDE,
NEEDING A MAJOR LIFE RENOVATION...
A SOUL COLONIC,  IF YOU WILL...
I KNEW I LOVED PHOTOGRAPHY
AND SEE FASHION AS ANOTHER FORM OF ART.

I KNEW THIS WOULD BE A GREAT VENUE TO START.
TWO LOVES ROLLED INTO ONE...
BUT, LATELY, I AM FEELING A BIT ON THE "EMPTY" SIDE. DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LOOOOVE TAKING PHOTOS, I HAVE ABOUT 40 OUTFITS READY TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED. I HAVE THE PROPER "BLOG POSES" DOWN PAT. I LOVE AND APPRECIATE EACH AND EVERY PERSON WHO POPS BY TO SAY HI. BUT SOMETIMES I WISH I COULD ACTUALLY SIT DOWN WITH YOU, AND NOT WORRY ABOUT THE LATEST "APP" I MUST HAVE TO GROW AND SHARE MY PASSION WITH YOU AND OTHERS ....
I SUPPOSE THAT IS THE NATURE OF THINGS.
CHANGE IS THE ONLY CONSTANT.....
SO, NOW THE INNER "CONFLICT" IS BEING RETHOUGHT.
HOW DOES ONE TAKE THEMSELVES TO THE NEXT LEVEL?
AS A HUMAN BEING-
NOT IN THE ALTERNATE UNIVERSE I LOVINGLY CALL BLOGDONIA...
ALTHOUGH, THAT'S WHERE WE HAPPEN TO HAVE MET ;)

I AM SEEING A 'TREND' EVOLVING ALL OVER THE BLOG WORLD LATELY.
SOME BLOGGERS GIVING IT UP ALTOGETHER. MANY RE-THINKING THEIR ROLES AS  FASHION BLOGGERS. TWEAKING THEIR BLOGS AND SOMETIMES TAKING THEM IN A NEW DIRECTION ALTOGETHER. MAYBE THIS IS AN INEVITABLE CHANGE. AN EVOLUTION OF SORTS. I'M NOT SURE. I DO BELIEVE THAT WE OWE IT TO OURSELVES TO "CHECK IN" WITH OUR INTENTIONS EVERY SO OFTEN. I KNOW MAYBE THAT'S ALL IT IS, MAYBE NOT.
I WONDER IF THERE IS A NEW "APP"
FOR SOUL SEARCHING,
LIKE "WWW.DOTHISNEXT.COM" OR "TWEET ME, I'LL GIVE YOU FOCUS".....
WHAT I DO KNOW:
ART IS CRUCIAL FOR GROWTH AND FASHION IS ANOTHER FORM OF ART.
I DO KNOW I'M READY TO DO MORE THAN JUST "SHOW UP",
TAKING UP PRECIOUS SPACE AND OXYGEN-
BUT BEYOND THAT, I'M NOT SURE.
SO FOR NOW, I WILL KEEP SHOWING UP,
LISTENING AND LOOKING FOR THE SUBTLE 'CLUES' THAT WILL LEAD ME FORWARD TO THE FULFILLMENT I TRULY SEEK ;)
OH YEAH, AND BUY PRE-LOVED CLOTHING ;)
IS ANYONE ELSE FEELING A BIT OF PERSPECTIVE ANALYZING AS WELL ?
xXx

Roll with the Rock

Ever feel like the dude, Sisyphus, who is forced to roll a big rock all the way up a hill, only to almost get to the top, when the stone rolls all the way back down again? He is destined to do this for eternity, For what crime or mis-step I am not aware, however the point of the legend, according to Homer, was that it's in the rolling of the rock that his power is evoked, not the actual "making it" to the top! At first, this is the goal of Sisyphus, the "end", the "top", where he will finally be finished. But each time he is forced to begin again, he learns the true meaning of life. Enlightenment. It's all about the journey. I too feel like this guy. As soon as one tough journey seems to be ending, another one pops up and hits me in the gut all over again. One of my favorite bloggers tends to speak in analogies, which apply directly to her life and yet are vague enough to maintain her privacy. Though I never know what's really going on with her, I still feel as if I do, and support and cheer her on as if I am right in the thick of her life. Well, I'm trying to come up with some "analogy speak" to let you guys know that things aren't O.K. in my life as of late. I still enjoy fashion and blogging, but also have a monumental Rock going on right now as well. I really don't know why I feel the need to share my personal stuff, and please ignore it if you want, as this is a fashion blog. Needless to say, Same Day, Different Rock! Anyhoo, I get nostalgic when faced with real life stuff, and this outfit is a cozy reminder that there is a fun, sunny place where flippies and hippies flow, and where it's cool and sometimes necessary to wear a really big cross around your neck. I bought this top at Dot's many moons ago, and it is made by a company called "Rag". This label is in a lot of Dot's cotton stuff. I wear it when I'm at the beach, and the skirt is an Old Navy swimsuit cover. The flippies are also Old Navy and made in India. The giantic, celtic cross is a thrifted one and one of my first thrifts back in the early 90's(ish).
Late in the evening the sun sets so quickly, you can almost see it moving in the photos.
This outfit is so old, but very comforting and reminding me that the sun will rise on a new day and that the ocean waits for me with sand, sunsets and hope. What I wear is in direct proportion to my moods!
What do your outfits invoke ? Sometimes (for me) a mask, sometimes confidence, sadness, power, a rebellious mood, and sometimes just wanting to venture outwards and try something new! This outfit is saying "chill-out", heavy stuff comes and goes. it's not the load that breaks you, it's all in how you carry it :)
Did I vague things up for ya? ;)

Fashion and Philosophy

Oops.....
Fashion and Philosophy
If I were a fashion super-hero, I'd like to be called "Eclectia". Maybe "Mishmoshia". Though as super-heroes go, I kind of enjoy not carrying such a burden. I cry too easily, or get freakishly angry at mean people. I suppose that comes with the Gemini personality. But let's blame it on hormones. There are 2 severe sides to my personality, since I hit the big 40. A self reflective Zen student with a pre-pubescent "gimme-now!" tendancy. Waiting for my middle-aged Butterfly to surface. Hurry up already!
That's probably why my closet is filled with "trends" that I am already sick of , price tags still attached. They have since "gone out of style" or don't suit my fancy anymore. I see them as the equivalent of the red, shiny convertible that the Y chromosome is so fond of during "the change". I feel like I'm waiting to turn 16 so I can get my license to drive, or 21, so I can be "legal". Puberty all over again!
The great thing about it, this time around, is that I am much quicker to stop looking Outward for the solutions, and turn my attention Inward. All will be revealed in time. So I can relax. Remember who's in charge.
So, my last season, freshly tagged clothes are hitting the consignment shop. A little poorer in wallet, but hopefully richer in awareness. With the knowledge this time around that the Yen to my Yang isn't hidden. I just forgot where I put it !  By the Way, has anyone seen my keys ???
My outfit:
An embellished peasant top, plaid cotton skirt, tank, floral scarf, belt, thrifted leather mules, gold-coin dangle earrings. All bought on clearance, Dots or thrifted.
Gimme shelter!
A rain shower forced us inside, thus the jaundiced color. Poor Bitty!
I'm off to visit my parents for a week, so don't forget me! See ya next week :)
Hopefully more tanned and rested.
Time in the country is good for the soul !
I can't wait to get a remote!!! My gift to me ;)
These chunky mules are so comfy!!! They're made by So.
