Eclectic Cinched Boho Hippie ?

It all started with the shoes.

A pair of Seychelles I bought several years ago. They may be the best made mules on the planet ! The bottom is hardwood. Better than my furniture for sure . Then a little white box - well really a Big white box - arrived at my door with F 21 tape on it. It was like my birthday and Christmas all in one silly box ! I snatched a long awaited ( 9 days ) Maxi out and threw it on. I bought more than one, as I see many possibilities for them this summer !  As I snapped a shot of the shoes , I realized why Hippies like maxi's. The hair on my legs needed to be mowed more than my grass did. Waves of Grain hair blowing in the wind !  Ahhh... Summer .......

I know people don't like to hear about what you don't like about your body, so I'll try to only throw this out once. I don't like my arms. They are about the same size as my thighs. Think running back. Long, skinny legs with big arms and chest, minus the cute butt ! I tend to wear alot of light, long sleeve tops or shirts to cover them. Actually, it's better for my skin , too! Yeah, right !

My favorite accessory, a locket by @bstract for Target. It says "Fortune favors the Brave" inside, and "Hold on to your Dreams" etched on the back.

Double Happiness !

I am not driven as much by trends as I used to be, though I think I finally landed the Perfect boots / booties? for this Summer! They arrived with the maxi's and will be revealed this weekend for sure ! I usually dress for my mood and love to mix styles. I love to add chandalier earrings to a simple T, or mix vintage with boho. It's fun to be a girlie girl one day and a hippy chick the next ! Since my "No More Spending" mantra will be in effect til July, I can take the effort spent looking for the perfect piece and work what I have already.

My Outfit :  Maxi dress, F21. - Tunic, Old Navy. - T, No Boundaries. - Belts, Kohl's / Another dress tie.

Indie Boho Hippy Down on the Farm !

This outfit got the "sideways head shake" from my Dad , which means , I think you look nuts !  He isn't a big fan of indie , boho , or really anything past the conservative 70's lady-like apparel - As in nude hose , No long skirts and hats. I got that "look" alot during the eighties! It's fun to see his reaction to my different styles still to this day!

This outfit is totally T-shirt material with a little spandex. From the bubble skirt, to the vest to the Gray tunic. The tunic has gathers at the waist and I added an Old Navy sash belt over them. My Go-to accessories added the Hippy vibe I like so much. Knee sox over gray tights and boots pulled it into the now.

I bought this top pendant during a going-out-of -business sale at a small shop in my former home town called Holt's . It is from the 70's , and a great memento of my childhood , when we had 2 small shops in town to buy from and no Walmarts anywhere ! The pickings were slim , but the clothing was top drawer quality. To go to a mall , we drove over 60 miles , and the stores there consisted of Sears , Lazarus , McAlpin's , and Penny's.

( Damn tree! )

When my Mom and I arrived home from another thrifting expedition , it was approaching sunset and I popped off a few shots with mt Dad's tractor.

I just couldn't wear my knee socks as I wanted , since I wasn't sure my Dad could take it !
I guess no matter how grown-up I am , I'll always be Daddy's Girl !

POW OF COLORS!/ LONG FLOWING RED PANTS!

I am going shopping today. This is my bohemian outfit! No Mata Hari, but this scarf is my tribute to her amazing style. Maybe that's why I like the flow of pallazo pants and long skirts? Also scarfs and pashminas!(mis-spelled?). It is a sunny day and bold colors seemed to say POW, WORLD! I'm never ready for the holidays in time, so wish me luck!

I cannot stop looking at these beautiful photos of Mata Hari! Her political ties aside, as I'm not familiar enough with them-- Her allure, her confidence, her outfits!!!!

THE BOHEMIAN

Me on my road trip.

So nice to be home. I have lots of fun thrifties to post, but road trips, especially long ones, give me time to reflect and ponder the meanings of life. This blog has been making me ask myself, who am I, really? The last trip I took, I met a wonderful old-school photographer, this trip I met a published writer (in a mall while complimenting me on my outfit!). As you will know if u read my blogs, I love music, art, and I see fashion as an extension of art and souls. When I was young all i wanted was to "fit". As i've grown older i think of myself as an old hippie, a bo-ho gal. If u read the history of the bohemian lifestyle, that "tag" certainly should be sewn into the neck of my shirt.I have always been a Gypsie, unsettled, an artist with a full soul. This can lead to troublesome times, but also to glorious moments. I NEED to keep  moving but can get stuck in the mud. Luckily i was given the gift of 4-wheel-drive! My soul weeps, My soul giggles. That is truly a full closet! So, I give you some pics of Mata Hari, the alleged double-agent of WWI. Just look at her beauty, her style. She was truly a legend of Boho! My outfit was thrifted and i couldn't wait to post it. The sky was sooo beautiful that day, The deepest blue i've ever seen. What a trip! Can't wait to show off my goodies. Next post!

BOHO HIPPIE/ SIDE KNOTTED MAXI DRESS

This outfit was a take on one I saw a few weeks back and loved the idea, so I put my spin on it. I tied a knot in the side of a maxi-dress,( like we used to tie knots in the sides of our t-shirts in the 80's). The dress is cotton jersey from Target. I put it over a basic white long sleeve T, my faux lined Old Navy vest, and added my new treat, this pashmina scarf I bought at Kroger(I KNOW!) with burnt orange, black and greens. The dress is actually a  very dk. green, and my fav. banana republic boots. I added a thumb ring and some black beaded bracelets. I've been feeling a bit hippie-boho nostalagia lately. I usually have Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana or Chris Cornell in my C.D. player in my car--maybe that's my inspiration. The holidays always make me nostalgic for the good ole days!
