Finding Frida

Free People
Frida Fridays

Why do we love Frida so much?

When I first came upon her a long time ago, honestly all I noticed was her unibrow. But soon I realized that I was being such an ass. I looked her up and wow what a beauty! No wonder bloggers around the world see her as an inspiration. A painter who is most famous for her self-portraits. Out of her 145 paintings, 55 were of herself.  But, more than that - she was such a strong creative woman. She was not afraid to confront pain, She was tough. Her life wasn't easy. She had a pround sense of who she was. Kind of like a blogger....

This portrait remind me of the conjoined images we make
with apps like PicMonkey today.

She was very real. This portait is call "My Birth".

Her goods are everywhere from Amazon to Etsy.

(right image from Etsy)
just google Frida Kahlo fashion and these will pop up

The best bio of her I could find

I highly recommended watching this - it is short and sweet, but very informative...
Yep, this is what I do on cold weekends.

I have been browsing online more than three
hours today, yet I never found any interesting article
like yours. It's pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all website owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the net will be much more useful than ever before.

she is the only woman who could sport the uni in such an elegant bohemian manner. Inspired by Miss Helga and Miss Simmonds I did a Frida dressup post a while back. It was so much fun! http://moderncolorsblog.blogspot.com/2013/01/i-am-firda-kahlo.html

Frida gets a whole lotta love from our blogging community! She was a fierce and talented woman and I wonder what she would have thought of all the merchandise you can get with her image.

Me too- a big fan of her. Love her originality, vulnerability and utter devotion to art and style. "A time bomb wrapped in a ribbon."

Frida suffered from a very severe injury when she was young and suffered terrible pain and infirmity for the rest of her life. (She therefore also could not bear a child to term, which is where her frightening birth imagery comes from.) In much of her art, she tries to visually depict the body's pain. Since my back injury, her self-portraits really speak to me as I too now deal with chronic pain and infirmity. As I try to do with my blog, she found beauty in the midst of and despite her pain. Sometimes, small beauties are the only things that helps me go on. I write about that a lot and sometimes depict it in my images too.
