Timeless Beauty

I want to introduce you to someone I admire and love very much. Mother-in-law doesn't do her justice, nor does Mom #2. She is my "other" Mom! She is 75 years old and the most stylish lady around. She allowed me to dress her up and do my first portrait shoot of her. We had a blast and hope to do this again in the Fall. I put her in a thrifted prairie skirt, a floral top and floppy hat, no shoes allowed ! The only make-up she wore was a shimmer cream and light lip gloss. Here are some of the shots and I am so proud of them and so glad to have her in my life ! Here's to growing older beautifully !!!
This is my favorite and the one that most allows her personality to shine through :)
Mom loves Coffee and Mocha's. These were shot at the park.
Look at her cool cuff and she prefers silver over gold ;)
I hope I am half as lovely as her at 75.
Thanks, Mom :)

Grown Woman in a Playsuit !!!

Oh Yes I Am ! I'm wearing a "playsuit", and I like it !!! During a weak moment while waiting for a new battery to be put in my car, the W place had these Miley / Max jumpers for 5 dollars! I know, I know, I have exploited my no-spending rule twice already ( July is a long way away!) , but I really wanted to see if a "saged" chick could pull it off. I will be wearing these things all summer, in leu of a swim top as they are so easy and comfy. Of course I had to buy more than one. And bonus, they have pockets! This one is the girliest, the others are tribal prints. The cotton is paper thin and they do show a lot of skin, but my neighbor's are used to seeing me tromping around in p.j. shorts and a tank. So really, I did it for them ;). I boho'd it up with a thrifted leather belt, hippy beaded earrings, and the traditional summer floppy hat (K-mart) and some thrifted huraches. The shoes are still a little stiff, but I will place giant sock balls in them to stretch them. Ta, Da ! I still feel all growed up. Darn!

The Deets:

My newest favorite accessory, the thrifted leather belt, One Dollar! Yipee!

I also have a secret. I edit. I admit it. I have seriously bad vericosities in my legs and rather than showing a giant snake crawling up my leg, I get rid of them. When I sit, they retreat, but when I stand, they fill with blood and get really big and painful. Thus the sitting shots. I also could hide them (kinda) with tights, but as summer is here, and I don't want to sweat to death, I wear longer skirts or just edit them out. I am proud of how I am willing to try new, fun things, but at this point, It is becoming a medical issue. I see my doc. on Thursday and am finally willing to say goodbye to the snake legs. I am vain (vein?) as well, but my health comes first! Whew, what a load off !!! Many people edit, and for some reason, I feel it's not "honest". So here's the last and only time ( I hope), you will get the full monty:
Ouch! I can hardly look! Sad, really :) I guess we all have issues and that's O.K. !

Cheers to Summer, Minimal make-up and lots of Orange Pop !

I am looking forward to a sunny week! How bout you?
Do you ever edit ???

ORANGE SHOES

I almost missed the daylight window for popping off shots. The sun was still "up", but in Cincinnati, land of the hills, the sun was behind the last hill in our neighborhood. I had to use a flash, which is hit or miss without a remote. The very first shot is actually what color my sweater really is, peach. During my grunge days, Ahh.... I miss them so, we gals Always wore black cotton flats. We called them China flats, and though they would make your feet stinky, they were the uniform shoe. When one pair wore a hole or the strap broke, you just went next door to the incense shop and plopped down 3 or 4 bucks for another pair. (I worked at a "head" shop called The Cupboard in University Heights, where I also lived. My co-workers wore vintage stuff then, and my manager wore baby-doll dresses with red patent mary janes. Another girl Never washed her long beautiful hair and was growing dreads. The "cool" venue for up-and-coming alternative rock groups was 2 doors down. I met Carly Simon one day while she was walking around the strip. Gosh, I loved that world!!!

O.K. back to the outfit. My shoes are the same kind, but I wanted a brighter color. I have them in black already. I laid in the sun, before having to get dressed, and still had sun-screen on my face. This skirt is one of my favs. It goes with everything and was thrifted (originally from Limited?) I took super long beads and made a chocker, tissue thin sweater from Penny's and hat from K-mart. The bag was also thrifted and matches a pair of hurache sandals I thrifted the same day. It was a score day!

Right now, the honey suckles are in full bloom and the aroma is intoxicating!!!

The Deets.

I hate close-ups, but am trying to get used to them.
Look Ma, no make-up or editing. Happy Mother's day!

Ignore the blow-out lady, and just look at all those honey suckles!

Happy Hump Day !!!

Edit : I posted this yesterday, but for some reason, it didn't load. I really know what day it is ( usually! )
ALSO : I tried to use "stopwatch" to see how long it takes for my blog to load, but Vista wouldn't run it!
Does it take a long time to load the images? I know some sites seem to take forever, and to make this blog more user friendly, I'd like your imput on load time. Is it annoyingly slow, or is it pretty quick? Thanks!

BIG POCKETS

Today is a beautiful day in Cinti. The wind is blowing yet it's warm. The skies are light blue with soft clouds floating by. It so reminds me of Hilton Head Island . I am hurrying to get into some shorts and get some light rays on my legs. This skirt I ordered from Newport News back in the early Spring. I always order too large and have to take them in. Ya think I'd learn! My necklace is another beauty from FENNOFashion called "Mirror, Mirror". I love it ! Gotta book ! I will be announcing my give-away on Friday! Yipee !

Hat: K-Mart.

My Boo getting all muddy ! She has mad face !
