on "Collections" ...... The Fashion and Philosophy Series

YES, I ALSO LOVE LOOKING AT THE SPRING COLLECTIONS ......
( ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY ARE REALLY FLORAL, LIKE THIS YEAR ;)
BUT COME ON !!!

I KNOW YOU KNOW, THAT THESE 'NEW' STAPLES WE "MUST" HAVE TO BE 'IN' THIS SPRING ARE ALL MADE UP BY A BUNCH OF SUITS WHO DIDN'T SELL ENOUGH NEUTRALS LAST YEAR, AND HAVE DECIDED TO HERD US INTO YET ANOTHER TREND (AKA, MONEY-MAKING SCHEME) TO PAD THE LINING OF THE POCKETS OF SAID 'TREND MAKERS',  ( HERD MAKERS ) ......
WE ARE SO MUCH SMARTER THAN THAT !!!

YES, THERE WILL INEVITABLY BE 'THAT PERFECT' FLORAL PANT I WILL SWOON OVER SOON.
BUT, MAY I BE STRUCK DEAD ( By a gentle bolt of lightening, or a cushy 'drift off in my sleep' heart attack ....) I WILL NOT BE SWAYED BY SOMEONE OR SOME PRETTY, SHINY OVER-PRICED LITTLE NUMBER THIS YEAR !!!

AND IF I DO SEE SOMETHING I TRULY LIKE, I WILL THRIFT IT.....
ACTUALLY IF I JUST WAIT TIL NEXT FALL, IT WILL BE IN MY LOCAL GOODWILL ANYWAY ;)

SO JUST IN TIME FOR MY 'RANT THOUGHT OF THE WEEK' , BELLA Q, AKA THE CITIZEN ROSEBUD
SENT ME THIS PLEDGE , AND I HAVE TAKEN IT WHOLE-HEARTEDLY ......
SHE IS STARTING A MOVEMENT THAT WILL CHANGE THE FASHION WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!

I TOOK THE SECOND-HAND PLEDGE !!!

I pledge to SHOP SECOND-HAND.
I resolve to purchase items that are thrifted, swapped or handed down. My aim is to limit my consumption, and in doing so I intend to shop from second-hand sources first. I pledge to support business that commits to sustainable and smart design. I look first for upcycled, recycled, and pre-loved goods. I barter and swap when possible, and shop consignment, thrift-stores and flea markets when probable. I pledge to shop secondhand because I put the planet first.

YIPEE !!! I FEEL GREAT ABOUT THIS AND INVITE EVERYONE AND ANYONE TO JOIN IN :)
LET'S START A REVOLUTION !
THANKS, BELLA, FOR THIS GREAT START TO A BRAVE NEW WORLD !

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYBODY !!!!
xXx

Hi Reva, I love the silk dress so much that I think you shouldn't cover it up with the jacket! It looks so cute without it...I am going to ponder taking the pledge, but that would be a
huge step for me! I just don't know if I can pull it off, but I want to give it some SERIOUS consideration! Mentioned you in my post today!

Hi Reva, new follower here, as a vintage seller I love the pledge, and if you don't mind I may well put it up on my blog tomorrow :)

I've taken the pledge without even knowing about it.

I love the little knot you have tied in the tunic/dress. And the little jacket is perfect with it. Actually, I feel a little sorry for the designers nowadays because fashion is growing increasingly democratic. You're right, it will be at Goodwill next year.

I've also taken the pledge without realizing it (although I do still shop a wee bit new, but not much). I love the philosophy!

I desided to take this pledge back in late Spring Early Summer,
And have pretty much stuck to it,
Other then presents that people have bought me,
I have stayed true to this!!
I have found some pretty great pieces this past few months.
And I will continue to thrift,
Shop second hand,
And make my own cloths.

A lot of these trends are just recyled anyway!!
So why not REALLY follow the trends and get them from the FIRST TIME AROUND!?!??!?

I'm going to put this on my blog and invite everyone of my readers to join in.
:)

Great idea Reva - I'm new to thrifting and I must say, I'm a convert! Love your tunic, it's perfect with the jacket :)

I love thrifting. It's sad to see how much is wasted on fast fashion. While it is affordable, is it really ethical? Most of my clothing is thrifted, and I'm going to start swapping soon. I wish it was easier to swap clothing on the internet.

Gorgeous mix of textures here, Reva!
I took this pledge subconciously ages ago (but I did fall off the wagon and buy a pair of NEW! albeit sale boots this week).
If we love something we can wait for the fashion pack to tire of it and donate it to charity...less cash on new clothes equals more money for fun.xxx

I love thrifting so much, saving the planet is a happy coincidence! And I've stopped looking to the fashion industry to tell me what looks good. Style blogs are where I get all my inspiration these days. I love your mix of textures in this outfit.
Have a great week!

I'm completely with you....I've tentatively made this pledge anyway this year. I say tentatively because I'm still on the lookout for a great pair of black heels and a fabulous brown corset belt. Would love to find both second hand; but man, I really want them! LOL Your little dress is beautiful and you look beautiful in it!! ~Serene
