WHAT A HIPPIE WEARS IN THE SNOW

ALL I CAN REALLY SAY ABOUT THIS OUTFIT IS Brrrr !!!!
WELL, NOT REALLY ;) ~ YEP, I AM A DIE-HARD AND OFFICIALLY NUTS. ( Well, you knew that anyway....)  ~  BUT I COULDN'T RESIST JUST ONE MORE OUTDOOR SHOT. IT'S OFFICIALLY 21 DEGREES WITH A WIND-CHILL BELOW ZERO. - plus the snow acts as a 'white board' to reflect light and make you look all dreamy. You can't even see the snot running down my face :)

I THRIFTED THIS DRESS BACK IN THE SUMMER WHILE ON A TRIP TO MY PARENT'S.
MY MOM SAID "GOOD GOD, YOU WON'T WEAR THAT" BUT SHE DOESN'T KNOW HOW LOW MY HUBS KEEPS OUR THERMOSTAT. 65 ON THE BUTTON AT NIGHT, 68 TOPS DURING THE DAY.
I KNOW .... I TAKE LOTS OF HOT BATHS ;)
THIS QUILTED BABY IS LINED, AND HAS VINTAGE PATCHES OF MATERIAL. IT WAS MADE IN HAITI BY 'MOUNTAIN MAIO l'ARTISIANE'. I SAW IT AS THE PERFECT HIPPY DRESS.
IT ISN'T HEAVY EITHER, BUT SUPER-WARM. I SUPPOSE IT WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY.
Plus, pockets , Yippee !

ON TAKING PHOTOS :
MY HUBBY REALLY LOVED ALL THESE PHOTOS, BUT THE EXTREME TEMP WAS WAY TOO HARD ON MY BABY. I took her lens of immediately and let her warm up. Frigid temps are very hard on cameras. So, until warmer days show up again, I guess I'll say goodbye to my back yard ( Well probably :) ~ This was the fastest 'shoot' ever !!! ~
I think my 'cheapo' has died on me :(   So that option is out. I am not a fan of taking indoor photos. They seem to have a mind of their own, and my house is very dark, thus the need for a flash .
I also used fill-flash ( here )  and I wonder why so many blogger's don't use it. Of many blogs I read, flash is a turn-off. I wonder why? All of these were taken with a fill-flash and seemed to turn out OK.
Otherwise, you'd have seen a dark figure and the sun-set. ( I tried it )
MY CANON REPS ( Who I call all the time for pointers, and they are really cool about it ), ALWAYS SUGGEST A FILL-FLASH, EVEN OUTDOORS DURING THE DAY, AS TO REMOVE THE SHADOWS.
( Since the photos are a big part of my blog experience, I like to know what other's think )
What's your take on fill-flash? A Yahoo or Faux Paux ? ( I need all the help I can get ;)
My Favorite ( with fill-flash....) as well as the top photos.
( Hubs favorite w/o flash....) before the sun had moved lower.
Dear Playboy; My turn-ons include standing around in the snow, taking pictures of myself in a giant quilt, and throwing snowballs in my undies, tee,hee ;)
My turn-offs: Fill Flash. It makes me all dizzy ......
attire: Hat: Land's End, clx.  - Earrings: Claire's $1.00
Wellies: JCrew, thrifted - Ribbed Turtle neck: Covington, Sears.
Quilted Dress: thrifted $ 4.00, Goodwill. - Gloves: ? (cheapos)

This dress reminds me of my crazy dreadlocked hippie days! Ah nostalgia! I think these shots look great. I personally try to avoid the plash just because it makes everything seem all washed out, but since all of my lights in my house are CFLs I need it to counteract the crazy orange glow. I had tons of light in snow pic troubles today and ended up adjusting the contrast in my editor rather than just using the darn flash. I think I'll just try the flash next time.

Tell your mom that I would rather wear this dress than a SNUGGIE! ha ha...seriously, I will miss your outdoor pictures...they are so fun to look at down here and the snow is beautiful! The dress should keep you warm tonight!

What exacting is fill flash? You mentioned it once on my blog, but I couldn't figure out how it was different from just regular flash. In any case, these are beautiful photos. The quilt dress is charming although I cannot think of where i would wear it...except perhaps around the house. However, I am jealous of the braid over your shoulder. That has been my hair goal for months.

I know what a hippie wears in the snow. A quilt dress! It's so Scarlett O'Hara! Even though she's a southern belle, not a hippie...

you look fantastic. keeping the fun on in spite of the cold temp. The dress for me looks Harujuku not hippee. I can totally see a cute Japanese teenager rocking it. YOU look great, colorful and toasty. GREAT outfit. GREAT pics!

I told you that Chictopians would love you! It's a bit more interactive of a community, and I think diversity is appreciated there more so than Weardrobe or Lookbook. YOU there now? I will go fan ya! <3
