CALLING ON STYLE NATION .... I NEED YOUR OPINION :)

HELLO STYLE NATION !!!
EVERY SO OFTEN I GET THE OVERWHELMING ITCH TO CUT MY HAIR.
I ADMIRE AND LOVE SHORT, CUTE HAIR - BUT I HAVE TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION
A FEW THINGS....
 MAINLY , WILL I HAVE A BREAK-DOWN IF I DON'T LIKE IT ???
A. I HAVE TO CONSIDER MY FACE SHAPE FOR ONE. ( I HAVE A VERY LONG NOSE AND BIG EARS )
B. THE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT WILL GO INTO STYLING IT.
C. IS IT HAT-FRIENDLY ?
D. MY HAIR QUALITY AND CHARACTERISTICS..... IT'S VERY, VERY STRAIGHT AND FINE !

COLORING IT ACTUALLY ADDS FULLNESS, BUT BY THE END OF THE DAY, IT IS FLAT AS MY BUTT, AND A DOZEN GRAYS HAVE SNUCK IN ... WITHOUT PERMISSION ...
I'D GO GRAY IN A HOT MINUTE ( I ADORE EMMY-LOU HARRIS'S DO )
BUT I HAVE THE SKUNK STRIPE GOING ON.
SOOOO ...
WHEN I GET SCISSOR-HAPPY, I CUT MY BANGS. ALL THE 'STYLE GURU'S' SAY THAT'S WHAT TO DO TO SCRATCH THE ITCH. BUT, I GOTTA TELL YA, THE ITCH STILL ISN'T SCRATCHED.
I'M SHOOTING FOR A FLATTERING STYLE
THAT ISN'T DRAGGING ME DOWN.
A YOUTH-BOOST IF YOU WILL ;)

THANKS TO THE STYLEUNDERDOG
AND THE COMMENTS I READ AFTER ASKING HER IF SHE'D EVER HAD LONG HAIR, I DECIDED TO LOOK AROUND FOR A 'DO'..... AND WEIGHT THE PROS AND CONS OF THE FREEDOM OF CHOPPING THE LOCKS. IS IT REALLY FREEDOM OR MORE WORK?
( I ABSOLUTELY HATE TO WASH AND STYLE MY FRIGGIN HAIR ! )
I WENT TO THE PROS - THAT'S RIGHT - IN STYLE MAGAZINE !!!
HERE'S WHAT I CAME UP WITH SO FAR ..........

THE BEST IMAGE I COULD FIND....
(DON'T LAUGH, I WAS TRYING A BEACHY HAIR-DO AND FAKE LASHES)

     1. LESS BANGS                                                                                 2. LOT-O-BANGS

STYLE ONE :
THE CHIN SCRAPING BOB, IN DIFFERENT COLORS .
I HAVE ALREADY NOTICED I LOOK FRESHER WITH A TOUCH OF RED...
HOWEVER,
SHINE DOES NOT HAPPEN WHEN I
 USE PRODUCT TO GET VOLUME...

STYLE TWO :
3.
A SHORT BLOWN-OUT 'LET THE GREYS GO' BOBETTE...
( NOTE, MY HAIR WILL FALL FLAT BY AFTERNOON .)
I THINK I'M VENTURING INTO SOCCER MOM TERRITORY HERE ...

4. KEIRA KNIGHTLY CHOPPED AND HIGHLIGHTED OUT THE ASS !
( I REALLY LIKE THIS ONE ! )

4A. BALLS-TO-THE WALL ......

4B. BALLS TO THE WALL ....
4C. MORE BALLS...

                                            5.                                          6.
KA-POW BOBS WITH HIGHLIGHTS ( OR NOT )
THE SECOND ONE WOULD SHOW OFF MY EARRINGS ;)

7.  CHOPPY SIDE SWEPT
( WHICH WILL REQUIRE LOTS OF STYLING AND DROOPAGE )

8. LONGER SHAG
( AGAIN LOTS OF STYLING, I THINK ....)

9. A PERM WITH HIGHLIGHTS AND LOTS OF STYLING
( CONTRARY TO MY GOALS, BUT STILL MY DREAM HAIR )

1O. ROCKER CHIC ( WHICH MY HAIR IS EXACTLY THIS TEXTURE...
CONS : FREQUENT TRIMS ....
MAYBE JUST A TON MORE BANGS ?
AND CHECK OUT MY MAKE-UP IN IMAGE 2, I SHOULD BE WEARING YELLOW-TONES...
WHO KNEW ?
                                           11.                                              12.
OR MAYBE THE STYLE I WORE DURING THE 90'S ( FIRST IMAGE )
AND THE EXACT BOB I HAD ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO ....
( MY HAIR GROWS VERY FAST :)
I PICKED THIS PARTICULAR BOB AS MINE ALWAYS LOOKED UNKEMPT ;)

ARRGH !!!!!

I WOULD MISS MY BRAIDS AND BUNS....
AND IS MY PROFILE SHORT-HAIR FRIENDLY ?
AND A CONFESSION :
IF I WERE SINGLE, I'D HAVE CHOPPED IT YEARS AGO !
MAYBE I NEED A FEMINISM INTERVENTION.........

OK, GUYS, WHICH STYLE DO YOU THINK IS MOST FLATTERING ???
OR JUST KEEP IT THE SAME ? THAT'S OK, TOO :)

PLEASE TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE TEXTURE OF MY HAIR AND LAZINESS INVOLVED ;)
( MY LONG FACE AND BIG-ASS NOSE AND EARS. )
ALL CUTE PEOPLE LOOK GOOD IN SHORT HAIR, AND I'M NOT "CUTE" ;)

I'd say cut it to shoulder length first.
Then if you still want to go shorter you can!!
:D

Your hair is lovely as it is! Long hair has the benefit of versatility. You can pull it back or put it up when you don't have any time, or you can fuss with it and make it absolutely lovely when you want to.

I've been enamored with short hair for the last few years, and I've had 2 really short cuts. I love my current cut, but was less enamored with the one I got 3 years ago. My current one is a flattering style for my face and a perfect fit for my hair texture. I literally wash it, brush it and go. It dries in very little time and looks good. If I want to look great, I spend 2 mintes drying it with a hairdryer or I allow 20 minutes for it to air dry completely, then I style it with a bit a product, which takes less than a minute.

My first short hairstyle required daily styling (less than 5 minutes) but I had to do it EVERY day, and if it didn't turn out well (which happened every few days) there was really nothing I could do to pull it back or hide it. I had to start all over again or leave as is.

So short hair can be almost miraculous if you get the right cut for your hair and face (keeping in mind the styling time you're willing to spend daily) or it can be a challenge, and I don't know how you can identify that sweet spot without trial and error.

All that being said, I love my short hair and I'm very glad I got it cut.

As someone with super short hair, AND it's baby fine and thin too!, I vote for 4 and all its permutations. I find my hair is much thicker when it's short (go figure), it's healthier (soft and shiny), and it's SO easy to style.

I put a little silicon (John Frieda) in my hair, blow-dry it upside down in about 2 minutes and put a bit of styling putty in (but only if I feel like it, which is about 5% of the time) for some funky choppy bits.

With short hair, you do have to get it cut frequently (every 6-8 weeks, minimum) to maintain the style or it gets to looking cah-razy. It's extremely hat-friendly, especially if you keep the bangs longish (like SU and me) so that they can peek out.

I tried long hair many times, and I always come back to my own Style Underdog hairdo.

But honestly, it's your hair, do what you want. And remember, it's just HAIR. It grows back!

The nicest thing about hair is, it grows! Chop it off. You'll have fun no matter what length your hair ends up! I really enjoy reading you!!

Go crazy - it's only hair! Go for the crazy pink do. Grow it out, cut it, dye it, life's short and it's only hair! You have such a beautiful face and lovely eyes I think you'll rock any look. But please don't go grey yet. Please don't give in to the grey.

I love your hair the way it is! I think that you have so much more versatility with longer hair. But if you did really cut it, I vote #4.

Reva, you are lovely no matter what you do with your hair. I say go for a cut- be brave, be wild, and own it. I REALLY love the sharp bob with bangs. I think you would look super cute and all America's Next Top Model. (Maybe it's just that I adore that cut and think everyone should have it.)

I'd love to do an interview. Send me some questions!

Yeah do what you think's best. Only you can decide. Definately don't give into the grey, there's very few women who can get away with it. xxx

I like #6 or even shorter! I think you'd look fantastic with a pixie. All you need to carry that off is confidence and you have LOADS!

I love my hair long and i love it short. Short seems to fit where I am in life right now. True it will grow back if you don't like it, but real truth is that only you can make this decision. If you do not want to do this, DON'T!
You are so cute...you just crack me up!

I like the rocker chic. Of course, I am partial to it as it is similar to what I wear. Going between trims is easy too; you can go as long between cuts as you want if you learn to trim your bangs yourself (your stylist should be willing to teach you). It looks great with hats. It DOES require at least a blow dry every day (and a flat iron most days) or I think it looks like Shaun Cassidy (showing my age there.) :P

I have long hair and will never be game to have it cut tho there are styles that I love if I did.I like yours natural but like the others said you can always grow it again.
I have told my daughters to let me know when I am too old for my long hair lol
