AROUND THE HOUSE .....

MY HUBBY'S GIANT SHIRT :)
ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO NOT ONLY CHECK OUT SOMEONE'S OUTFITS, BUT ALSO FIND YOURSELF PEERING INTO THE BACKGROUND, WONDERING WHERE AND WHAT KIND OF ENVIRONMENT THEY DWELL IN AS WELL ?  ~ ME TOO !!!
SO I THOUGHT I'D SHOW A GLIMPSE OF MY 'HOUSE PERSONALITY', MINUS THE PILES OF CLOTHES. (WHO WANTS TO SEE THAT ANYWAY ;) ~ I FIND THE TINIEST THINGS BEHIND THE BIGGER PICTURES TELL MORE THAN WHAT WE "PRESENT".
YOU CAN TELL A LOT ABOUT SOMEONE BY WHAT'S IN THE BACKGROUND.
DON'T MIND THE DUST. IT HAS IT'S PLACE AS WELL ;) THIS IS MY TRUE NATURE. DUST AND ALL. Got your popcorn ?
Bitty's throne. she stole Rod's purple sweatshirt and is surrounded by her stuffed animals ;)
You can always tell who and what someone loves the most by these little corners ;)
( i did NOT re-arrange anything, I swear!) The big-eyed cat was my beloved Rex,RIP.
Part of the big 'craft room' re-do. ( work in progress ;)
My house is full of golden color with reds and blacks in the 'trimmings'.
(see the stenciled walls in the background? i may be painting over it)
Hey, we all spend a lot of time here ;) Candle live here, too!
(I'm pretty tired of the water-can theme, but my toilet/tub are a pinky salmon color) Any tips?
My guest-room/"other closet" ;)  piles of clothes on bed. Not pretty!
I made this collage years ago from black/white magazine images. in the corner it says, "just be you".
Instead of pictures, my beloved vintage accessories adorn most of the walls.
My "Museum of French Art" ;) above the vanity mirror.
what's ON the vanity, another story.......
A framed (by me) greeting card , which i see everyday, and will soon live in the "craft room". I added the cutouts for a pop of color.
( This is a great way to make "thrifty" art prints. A neat card (or one someone gave you) a piece of matte- or just colored paper- an old frame, wa-la. Instant custom art! )
Moving into the kitchen! I tend to hang quotes and fun stuff in doorways, just for my Hubs to smack his head on from time to time :)
my refrigerator art........
The kitchen window-sill. from vintage to Buddha , patio lights to incense burners and a few crystals getting re-charged....
It's painted a light green shade. ( Did you know many psychiatric clinics are green ;) it is considered the most soothing color of all.
the microwave even has something to say.........
as well as my stove :) - i need lots of affirmations.
Mixing Vintage with New adds character.
Moving into the glow of the living room. ( i need to light some candles.........)
And lastly, my "zone". It lives at the end of the dinner table. Notice the TV in the background? Hubby is to the left on sofa....
My newest funky reading glasses, my to-do notes and a 'Serta Matress' mouse-pad from when I sold mattresses at Sears.
The screen-saver is a photo my Hubby took of The Three Sister's rock formation on Laurel Lake near Cumberland Falls, KY.
Pretty awesome, huh! If only he'd be my photographer........ and check out the lamp-shade cat hair ;)
"While my Tri-Pod Gently weeps........."
Hope your week-end is going great !!!

Ha, Reva, you're on to me. It's true, when I started doing Chictopia last summer, I treated it like an anthropologist. I was just as interested in the backgrounds of people's rooms as I was their outfits. Guess I'm a bit of a voyeur, but the golden light of your home makes me feel so comfortable there. So many special touches--the 8-ball, the candles, the notes to self. I must say though that your zone is far neater than my "nest."

what a great idea to share the backdrop. your house reflects you don't it. love the kitty, and the room full of awesome cowboy hats, sunnies and handbags. just wonderful. and the pics of you peeking in the mirror with camera: priceless.

What a fun post, and your house does look very you. Afraid you'd see nothing in my background but piles of books and dust! Your cat is adorable.

Thank you for sharing your house with us. Two brilliant ideas that I am going to use: the way you hang your sunglasses, and the display of vintage.
Un abrazo my friend and enjoy your Sunday.

I love seeing your house and decorative touches! I think most of us interested in style and fashion also love interior design! I look at backgrounds also and some of the bloggers here have a real talent for selecting wonderful sights! BTW...I love that little floral purse and I wish our Goodwill did a coupon page!

What a great idea! While I am not a voyuer, like my friend Terri, I very much enjoyed seeing so much of your philosophy of life in your home. Thanks for sharing...

I noticed the affirmation " SIMPLY"

Ironic isn't it?

I love this! Your house is a lot like you. A little eccentric, colorful, warm and inviting!
