MAKE IT MONDAY ! / Full Apple Skirt

I have been up to some fun projects! These ideas have lived in the back of my mind for a while, so during crime T.V. time, I sat and made some neat skirts and am ready to share them this week. This first one was made of "Sack Cloth" cotton dish towels. I bought them at Big Lots for $3.00 for four. All you need is thread and elastic! I stitched the dish towels together, (they are already hemmed!), turned over about an inch at the waist, stitched, and pulled 3/4"elastic through. You can make the waist band as wide as you like. Done!

I wanted the skirt to be full, so I used the entire area of the cloth. I didn't want too many apples, either, and the white area of the cloth allowed for 4 groups of apples. I added a belt and a simple top. It looks very "Vintagey".

I don't feel "overly fruity" in this. Just fruity enough !

One Butt apple group on the rear, for good measure!

This was incredibly easy to make. Don't worry about making perfect stitches, especially on the waist band area. No one will see them. On the side seams, I used a straight stitch so I could iron the seams flat. Examples are given on DIYnet.com. A sewing machine is easier, but there's a sense of accomplishment when I sew by hand. Also, with practice, my stitches seem to be getting better and faster ! Soon, I will be selling these on Etsy. I will probably use my machine then. There are so many cool and vintage designs out there!
So, what do you think? I really want to know!
Would you buy this if you saw it ?

OMG! That skirt is the most awesome thing I've seen in ages. I'd buy one in every fruit. Adorable!

Wow, that turned out fantastically! I love it! I'm trying to teach myself sewing, and I don't have a machine so I do everything by hand, too. I'm not that great yet, but I'm practicing. Thanks for the hope that some things look great when stitched by hand! :)

That is so clever - I NEVER would have guessed it was made from dish towels.

This skirt is so cute! I definitely think you could get $15 plus s&h!

My rain boots are LaCrosse brand. They have cute rain boots in Target, but the Agway ones are built for work and hold up well.

Happy Walmarting! You may have luck. I have three Walmarts that I could go to. One is great, but the other two are pretty sad. The really good one is in a very economically depressed part of the state. Walmart the the BEST OPTION in that town (sad, huh?).

Love the skirt and love the outfit. It has lots of details, but is very simple and sweet.
